Hi again,
been off the site for awhile and already posting too much. :) Is there a direct axle swap to (8 3/4), for my 1970 Fury III, convertible. I would like to up grade it from the 9 1/4 that I believe is in it. I remember that my brother used to have a Chrysler parts swap book that showed interchangeability between the models. Is the differential size only specific for "C" bodies or will other models have the right size. Any ideas??

Thanx in advance

I'm going on failing memory here but I think the 71 and up B bodies fit-ish .. possibly some finagling of spring mounts by maybe a 1/4" per side or something or am I thinking of E bodies? Or both?

I did the 8.75 upgrade in my old 70 sport fury years ago. I thought I could just grab another axle from another C-body. I found a guy parting out a 69 Fury. I grabbed the rear end and when I went to swap it in the spring perches were just a tad too narrow. So to be safe I would say a 70/71 Fury would net you the right axle. Maybe others but I won't commit to any.

BTW you more then likely have a 8 1/4, not a 9 1/4.

Thanx to all for the info. I knew the differential was a low performance option and some sort of 1/4 sumpthin... Thank you for the charts. I would eventually like to upgrade the motor from the tired 318 (dual plane manifold, 600 cfm carb, dual exhaust) to a big block. Additionally I have a front disc brake kit and suspension kit for the car. With new shocks and differential it should handle the BB.

Thanx Again
