71 2 door Imp, needs motor,rare color $1500.00

I saw him as a good guy from the opening post.
I think there was a role reversal here and YOU guys were seeing a pony in the clouds.

All I ever saw was a poor old Imp with little chance of resuscitation.

from any of us.
When we pass, the trolls pass and the derbiers come in. They put up front the initial investment, get an ROI, and then go have fun with the rest. Your next part will come from that car.

I talked with the guy. He bought it long after the engine/trans departed it in an effort to save it. He is the nicest guy you would ever want to know, but he just ran out of funds. Hating isn't smart, as he is one of us.

Glad to see someone took the time to make a phone call instead of just being a hater. So are you going to buy it?

I think so, too....
Sometimes I don't get it where all the bad emotions come from.

Carsten
Carsten I'm as bad as any other C Body owner in this score. You know where the emotions come from. For every seller like this there are 20 that are BB scavengers. This seller is the exception.

I find myself running the numbers through my head. I have a 440/ 727 combo and I even have a set of green 71 Imperial skirts hanging on the wall of my shop.

I really have too many projects myself as many of us do. But I just wanted to know more about the car before deciding for sure. I tend to want to save something like this myself, but then I have to think of the consequences. We just can't save them all.

"So what do we have to do to make a deal here. Give me something to bring to the boss. Anything."

Fred you are a good guy.
I do not like guys who part runnning/driving C-bodys for their drivetrains either.

But a close look to the ad would have shown that this guy is different.
First of all he says that it needs to be saved. Ok, words are just one thing.
But look at the pics and check his place.
There is a Chrysler New Yorker and at least two other Fusey Imperials to be seen, sticking out of tarps.
No "I just want to rip out the engine"-guy has a huge Fuselage collection like that sitting in his backyard.
And then covers them all up so they don't get any sun damage.

Agreed. Jumping to conclusions is never wise but in this case I am willing to cut some slack. When you are perceived to be under attack being trigger happy is understandable. BTW Dave's also a good guy just from NJ LOL.

I'm always the first one to give the benefit of the doubt but just for fun, what other type of person might have a collection like that that they go through the trouble of covering?
A derby guy who's sick of people like us wondering what he's doing with all those big Chryslers....

No Matt, it is a guy that has a major weakness for C-Bodys. He would like to save them all. He knows it can't be done but he tries to do it as often as possible. So he buys them. With the future plans of restoring it or forwarding them to another enthusiast if he comes along. He knows it is important to protect what is left of the car and that it does not further deterioate so that it might have a better chance to survive on the long term.

We (our Cs) need more people like him.

Derby guys usually don't cover the cars, interieurs etc will be thrown away anyway

Never said that Dave (or anyone else here) isn't a good guy.
Maybe Dave isn't.
He still hasn't looked for road wheel trim rings:laughing11:

Believe me Carsten, I know how that works, I could barely move in my shop a year ago because of all of the strays.

This is the kind of car I would be looking for to put the late model pu/van efi360 but the distance kills it shame really decent bodies are tossed like garbage out there, here we are counting the rust holes thinking oh less than ten small ones are no big deal.
