Hi all ! I recently bought back the 71 red/white 71 New Yorker Coupe that I owned as a teenager in the late 80's and I'm getting her back on the road. Wished I had never sold her because she was a cherry back then. I am building a 512 stroked 440 for her to surprise the rice rockets out there. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

How many doors? It changes the trim length.

Had to rescue it from the friend of the guy I sold it to. He's had it sitting on greenage. A no no.
The interior I always thought was a weird color. But now that I look at it it's a really close match to the blue/green tint the windows have.

As to "the enemy", just dropping in a 512 will not win the war by itself. It's going to need an upgraded TF, then probably better u-joints, plus some rear suspension upgrades. THEN some stickier tires. Getting that 4500lbs of Chrysler initially moving that quickly will not be easy.

BUT there is a member in here who has a '66 NY 4dr that has mastered that situation. Looks stock until you look at the width of the tires. Even has working a/c, I believe?

It is massively easier to get a 3000lb car moving quickly than a 4500lb car. Most of "the enemy" have much great mechanical torque multiplication with their short tires and deep gears, typically. So "Know your enemy" and how they do things!

Very, very cool color combo: FE5 red with H3A6 Gunmetal split-back bench seat & armrest cloth & vinyl interior.

AFAICT, the seats of CH23T1C188674 look fine. FWIW, if I am incorrect and you need to redo them, I got an estimate for redoing the front seats of a 1971 NYer 4dr with the same cloth interior, and the bill would have been over $2k (including new foam). That was 2 years ago. BUT, it can be done and would look fabulous.

Is the roof okay? It looks like there is some rust there. It's good you got it back so now it will get the attention it needs.
 
Passenger side moldings have been damaged. I pulled them all off to start the redo. I can't seem to locate the plastic clips that hold the moldings on. The roof is not rusted. There is some rust in the quarters. I need to find a good donor car. SMS auto interiors sent exact samples of seat material and vinyl top.
Glad to have this big cruiser back. It is at home with my 57 and 60

I was going to just freshen up the 440 but it needed too much and I've always wanted to do a Stroker so what the heck. Went with the 440Source complete engine kit with CNC ported heads etc. She's a big girl, but some big girls can move pretty good. Those are the plastic clips that I cannot find.

H51 or H53 could be in that spot. Code H52 shows up there on wagons.
