72Fury's latest accumulation of parts for the Pursuit restoration

69 is the high water mark. Compression dropped each year after that. The engine that this car came with is stamped 71.

What a great looking car. I've never paid much attention to the post 1970 chryslers (low compression smog motors, safety bumpers, chintzy front ends etc), but now I have changed my mind. Very well appointed too, love those steering columns with the stainless collar and those steering wheels. The bucket seats also look cool...does it have a floorshift/console?

Column shift, but it does have a cool arm rest section between the buckets.

Yes they do........ No more comfortable seat will you ever sit in

Unless you're sitting on these........LOL!!!

Gotta disagree. I'm not crazy about the comfort of our seats. Yah, looks sexy as hell but....

Maybe so....

I just drove 1,000 miles nonstop. They were very comfortable to me.

Good thing you have Auto Pilot as you probably fell right asleep after a few miles in these armchairs. :)

I had to stop at the rest platz on the Ohio Turnpike for a couple of hours for a snooze. That reclining passenger seat and headrest was very comfortable!!!

I am sure they are as cozy as a couch BUT the 71 up C body bucket seat is the most comfortable seat I have ever sat in, more comfy than a couch

Not much to update. Busy summer. I sold the New Yorker. It went to a really good home & has been at several car meets/shows near Huron Ohio. I also bought a 72 440, off to the machine shop soon.

I thought for sure it would take about ten minutes to find that NYB online.

"Pursuit" finally clicked and I knew I'd at least found somebody, and low and behold....

Thank You for the kind words about her new home. The good news is that while I'm compiling a build list, we've made four shows and nearly 300 miles in our two weeks together. And, there isn't a radio in the hole yet. So enjoyable....;)
Down side, I guess I can tell the truth I wouldn't otherwise, here. She's an old unrestored Chrysler, as expected. We've blown the sway bar and most of the dryrotted front bushings are approaching their limits of safety. She quit leaking coolant but sprung small oil and atf leaks. The carb's gone crazy rich almost faster than I can keep it running and she spit out two plug wires giving me a wtf moment. But she self bled when I replaced the rubber brake hoses and has responded very positively to every next touch as parts arrive. If machines had feelings, I think she's as confident of future care as your 'sold' notice was.

To keep it all in one post and not clutter your thread, let me tell about last weekend here. No, she didn't go to the Nats. Instead, a little local show three stop sign's down our road.

The Mill Hollow Cruisin, A completely sponsored 15yr (Free) Sunday river canyon show in Vermillion OH. One entrance/exit from the thru road. Nothing but 25yrs or older gets in. NO spectators. Classics, convertibles, coupes, cabovers, and club racers. Factory and private built racecars, pace cars. Primer and rust to spotless of dust. Streetrods, Street Machines, Street Freaks, and Showroom Stock, unmolested, restored, or maintained to the Nth degree. Vans, wheelers and mudders. All together for the party! Heard it was over 3,800 registered this year, but certain that many hundreds like us didn't stand in that line. 4,500 plus by most accounts. Very fluid, people drive just thru the inner loop on their Sunday cruise or only stop for a T-shirt. A background row in one pix will be completely different by the time you get to that row.
But the good part... Completely packed as we idle up to the visitors center, a couple of our brothers notice us and come out of the crowd, as I notice that Nobody has yet hopped up on the only curbed in island on the property. The median between the Visitors Ctr and the Pavillion, with the DJ truck between. They part the crowd and we backed a 180 onto that prime real estate. The sole conquerer's of Center Stage! Most Everybody buying 50/50 tickets, or checking door prize numbers, buying shirts, chinese raffle tix, or registering etc.. passed within 30ft of the sole 1972 NYB, displayed on it's own grassy pedestal :) Mama, the owner, was Proud! Our parents were pleased to see us there and so prominently displayed. We heard it from our friends.

But best of all... When it came time to draw the real prizes, our youngest son who necessitated returning to a C-body, now as a family car, was drafted to pull the tix! He calls it Mommy's New Norker, and one day we'll have to correct that when it isn't cute anymore. But over a dozen winners later, the winner of over $2,000 in the 50/50 gave him a $40 cut! That HUGE excitement for a 6yr old, was quickly turned into LEGO's at his choice to provide even more FUN from the car hobby!

We ALL extend our Deepest Gratitude to you 72 Fury, for providing this car to our collection. It has already provided SO much Fun and many memories in our short time together, so far.....

Matt
