Keep us in the loop...this is great news!
I guessed they would be ready for pick up about 2 to 215pm. When he texted me that he was ready at 1:35 and his flight was early I was like Oh Boy!! I was just getting on the road then.
As we speak, Paul and John are on their way back home......

Just pulled into a hotel for some shuteye, heres a quick update before hitting the sack. Was nice to meet Gregg, the ol Imperial is exactly what I'm looking for. So far we've made it 250 miles without a problem. Will post more pics tomorrow when I'm riding shotgun...having a great time so far!

When I drove my 1975 Imperial from New Mexico to Iowa last May I should have taken pics about the trip and stops I made! 1400 miles and no problems! Good Luck to you guys!

There's nothing better than getting a road trip daily blog or photo spread when a C body is getting transported. Great stuff.

Got a few more pics...have 550 miles behind us, approx 250 more to go. Looks like we are getting anywhere from 12-16 mpg depending on the terrain and speed. Have used a quart of oil, which seems odd because I'd think we'd see a plume if it was burning that much. But we are having a great time...have gotten more than one honk with big smiles and thumbs up!

Wow you're making good time! Love the pics! Does that 8 track work? How the tunes with a long trip?

Yeah so far so good. The RCA radio powers up but no sound, so for the meantime we have music through our phones with a Bluetooth speaker

Blimp, that looks like a lot of fun! Looks like the weather has been clear for your journey back to Illinoisy.

Ha! I like the American flags as if it's a limousine. If you look on the www.imperialclub.com/events, one year someone showed up with a 68 Imperial with the flags and a campaign sticker. The car is almost as big as a limo, as it's 19.5 feet long. 1980's lincoln town car limos were 20 feet.

Gregg no flags But this 68 limo is for sale for $130,000 on Hemmings.

If I'm not mistaken, the only longer production car built in 1972 was the Cadillac Series 72 Limo.

The 12-16mpg range is right on the money. If the thermoquad is in good shape, a steady 70 mph should get you over 15.
In 2005, My friend Jerry Martin helped me do my timing chain. After that was done, he took apart my thermoquad, replaced the floats and fiddled with it. He loved t quads and was an expert with them. Later that year I took a trip to work in MA. My contract was done in November, and I drove back down to Philly for Thanksgiving. From there I went back to GA. In 33-38* weather, judging by miles and tank refills, I got about 15.5 mpg at a stead 70. Around town should be 8 to 9.
In 2008, the car didn't run as well when I moved back to philly and I got about 12 mpg in June. When I got back to philly, I replaced the plugs and wires and it went back up.

Paul ===>> if it's burning oil, use the Lucas I gave you. It should help a lot.
OTOH, 1 qt for 550 miles on the highway with a 200,000 mile motor is not unexpected.
The Corolla I am transition to burned 1 qt on a 350 mile trip to Cuba NY, on a 130K motor. I think that sucks. This 1.8L motor is junk.

My 08 Avenger burns oil and it's only at 94,343.

Funny how some cars like certain products used to them, I've never been much of an additive guy, most my cars were just junk no matter what! 200,000 miles on the original engine? I could deal with a little oil consumption.
