It would be a cool toy, but little else. Not exactly a daily driver!

I have been pondering this car. However, you are right in what you say. As a fun toy to take to shows be them Mopar or Police shows is fine. Yet, what then. As a daily driver there is no issue with covering up the roof lights as it has none. I'm pretty damn sure you have to have HIGHWAY PATROL and their emblem covered up making the car a small PIA for driving around local roads. My friend, who has the AIR RESOURCE BOARD 1973 Polara with lights and siren, hardly drives that car. Too much attention and being international orange makes it very obvious.I'm sure MrMoparCHP knows all the California rules for driving one of public roads.

I would have to cover up anything that said "police" in my state. I would imagine Ca is no different. The answer is go to a printing shop and have body color magnetic covers made up.

In general you have to cover everything, markings and lights.
Now, many just run the "NOT IN SERVICE" signs and cover the lights up.
The vehicle code also restricts having sirens in cars and are required to be disconnected, nobody does this.

I'm working with the blessing of the CHP and have and agreement to run their graphics, this is not an easy thing to get and I will follow the rules to the letter and cover everything up.
This agreement exempts you from needing to worry about having the siren(s) connected.

I have heard collectors talk about being stopped and told that they cannot drive their cars on the road without the agreement, not true (gets into a grey area on 1979+ cars).

But there are no restrictions on when, where or how often you can drive them, if I want it could be a daily driver.

We alway make a point to go with the flow, any faster people might thing we are taking advantage of the car (some think the State owns the car), slower causes traffic to stack up till they realize it is an older car, this happens more in the evening.

I'd go against everything I ever preached and have to paint it all black and remove the cop bling so I could drive it every day. Fortunately for the car, I can't buy it.

One thing I learned with my '70 Fury "Pursuit" is you better drive it like you are a real Officer and on patrol. The car does draw attention to it and you. If you do have a run in with law enforcement you can expect to operate as a example of real law enforcement that you are portraying.

Mine will be all one color, no decals when I paint it. The retired cops think its neat, but the current cops look at you like you have a third eye. Test me, test me, come arrest me. No thanks, I'll be home for dinner not the 3 hots & a cot plan.

I'd drive it the way it is and throw caution to the wind. UNTIL I got me balls broke more than three times

I germany I would be allowed to drive it "as is".
Just the light in the back would need to be covered.
"Police" decals are no problem as in germany it is "Polizei" so no worries driving around with foreigen spelling.

But all the looks of the people would disturb me.
A reason why I drive mine as it is. A retired police car with original paint (and front doors painted by the police when auctioned off)

What is it with you people over there?

The Dubai police cars will kick the Porsche police car's *** and still allow the son of some royalty to be a real policeman.

That's the plan for my 72, not a correct restoration, just build it the way I would have purchased it back in the day.
