Good evening ladies and gents, up for sale is a barely used almost in new condition Holley 750 carburetor, electric choke and vacuum secondary. When I was purchasing my 77 NYB, the car was out of state and a non-running condition. In order to get a good price on shipping the car had to be running, so I had a mechanic in the town the car was located in install this carburetor, brand new in the box at the time, to get the car running for transport. So this carburetor literally only has hours on it and not miles. The car was transported to me here in New York, and within a few days time I swapped it out to an Elderbrock that I had. So even though the carburetor looks dusty, it’s just from sitting in the box in my garage. The carb was $325 brand new.
Not looking for the 325, but make me a good offer. And its yours.

Just curious, why didn't you just use the Holley?

When our cars were new, the Holleys ran better overall than any of the Carters, especially off the line. The Holleys had more effective pump shots and the off idle jets came in earlier and richer than the AVS carbs. To this day I am not impressed with how the AVS carbs perform off the line in comparison. The only problem was that the Holleys were made back then out of cheap casting material and so after some time/temperature cycles, the metering blocks warped and then they were not so easily rebuilt or if you did, the same problem came back to bite you.

The newer Holleys should be fine I was thinking??

Couple reasons, I’m more familiar with the ElderBrock, and also I felt the 750 was a little too much for the car being a stock 440, I’ve heard it would’ve worked out fine had just left it, but I just prefer the EB.
