Whuduhyuh know. . . Its the standard FCBO C-Body-certified offer. . .

Is that ala carte or the full dinner?

When I think New Yorker I think 440. If I bought a New Yorker I expect a 440 especially since a 440 is kind of hard to source obviously. A New Yorker without the 440 is like Abbott and Costello without Costello.

You ever screw together a 400/470 combo and stuffed it neatly under the hood of about ANY MOPAR? I've done it twice and all I can say is YEEE HAAA! I have one more 3.90 eagle stroker crank new in a box I haven't opened yet. Much better combo than a stroker RB IMHO of racing 25 years. I wish Nick (Compu-Flo) we still among us...taught me so much over the years! When I think New Yorker, I think of myself as a kid laying on the back package tray looking at the moon and stars on road trips. My father is age 73 and still plays with HEMI Mopars and bought 3 new Imperials, 2 New Yorkers, special ordered a gorgeous 68 fastback VIP 383 HP loaded all options in Ice Blue/ White Vinyl with black cloth interior he still misses ( 1 of 1 owned 7 years) among his many Cudas, Roadrunners, Charger RT's with 4 speeds he made my tiny little mother drive with cushions on the seat! She put 1 brand new 69 RT Charger 4spd through our garage back wall as she thought she was in reverse with my 5 year old butt in the passenger seat. Dad even brought home a sub lime AAR Cuda riddled with bullet holes from the aftermath of a successful mob hit in Cleveland (they don't really exist though right?) the widow basically gave it away for $700 in 1971. These cars are in my blood like most of you...we all have our stories and preferences...just like our taste in ladies. I prefer BLONDES...I married a gorgeous one with an exquisite brain...they DO exist!

Standard engine for a 1978 NYB was 400. The 360 was standard in California and high altitude areas. The 440 was optional in 1978, not available in California.

You know what I mean whether or not it was not standard I will always think 440. I expect 440 and that is just me. A 360 New Yorker would be ___________ fill in the blank.

The next time I visit my sister in Sanibel, I'm gonna have to stop and buy you a beer. Or three.

I live off Daniels on Plantation 4 miles west of I-75. The half shell is 4 miles from my home. I am aware of the formal market. I do however have an interest in her low mileage 400/trans obviously. I've got a couple weeks to make a decision and render disposition on her as our "season" is approaching and I'll be living in the ER/ICU all Winter until the snowbirds go home. I have a little time on my hands in sept/oct to get busy in my garage. I had her running in an hour and side street drove her around for about an hour. Good brakes, shifts good everything surprisingly tight. Lean Burn isn't advancing timing so I wouldn't attempt to drive on roads until that's replaced with electronic ignition and carb. I dropped driveshaft and towed home when I purchased. I welcome an inspection, anyone would be pleased at her overall condition. It's very odd to say the least. Once in a while you stumble across a survivor that was actually cared for. That being said, let's just put it out there, what is a ballpark fair offer to save her for somebody who would appreciate her?
You have some nice machinery. Now I really want to check out your entire collection.

I have a few friends I have neglected badly in your neighborhood, I've been meaning to take a weekend down that way for a while now. The offer to give your car an inspection would really just be my selfish way to add something else to a weekend agenda.

I get that the stroker crowd loves the 400, and I doubt this car will command enough of a price to stop a transplant. I'm glad you paused to offer her for someone to save. I have no space to even consider her (not that my brain isn't twisting into a pretzel trying). Heck, I'm still thinking about where I will "hide" the newest parts donor this weekend. I'm going to have to rent another spot next to my bus I suppose:BangHead:.

Well I actually stuffed this one into my last possible space inside a warm dry garage while I decide what to do with it. I had an extensive conversation with my dad about her...he wants me to keep it and get to it...says I would love driving it on weekend road trips...I DO live in Florida! I guess the next couple weeks will decide if she gets a new home or not.

If you keep her, look around for @1978 NYB 's wiper bushing upgrade... that would be critical to keep a 78 on the road when an unexpected Florida cloud burst appears. Either way, I would still love to check out your collection.

My last Ft Myers job was at the Benz dealer, when it was still housed where the Mini dealer is now. On a slow day, the Half Shell was a great sit down lunch option (decent food for a bar), and I lived in one of the walking distance apartments at the time... so I didn't mind a second refreshment there after work.

Yeah I've looked into that. The wipers work and I have Rain-X I fired her up yesterday and just listened to her idle, played with all the buttons, closed my eyes and sunk down into those plush seats and thought back to 1974 on family road trips. I've already decided not to kill her as she's just so straight and well preserved. i just may have to take my fathers advice and cancel the PRO Street 70 Swinger project I was about to began and get into an awesome land yacht. There are a ton of winter cruise ins around here, I'd definitely once again have the only one!

Once you start driving these "Big Boys"....you get hooked! Damn comfortable with the seating and the like. I've got bad knees (right knee in particular) and I can drive my '75 Imp or '77 New Yorker all day long!
