Thought you all might enjoy hearing about a little adventure I had last week with my ’67 Monaco…

A month or two ago, my wife saw a casting call in the Boston Globe for classic cars to be used in a movie. I replied, and didn’t hear back until a couple weeks ago. Turns out they wanted my car for the movie! The scene was a used car lot in the late 1970’s, so there were about a dozen other classic cars. (Well, some classics, and some that were just plain tired.) It was like being at a car show. Mine was parked next to a gorgeous 1963 Imperial!

I got called back for another day of shooting, this time in a suburban neighborhood. It was a scene where one of the stars tears up the street in an Eldorado and drives onto the front lawn. I think they shot the scene so that he pulls up right in front of my car. Of course, you never know what scenes will be kept or cut from the final movie, but if you see it, keep your eyes peeled for copper-colored ’67 Monaco hard top. There’s also a clean ’68 Newport coupe which belongs to a local company that rents out movie cars. I was hoping it would be near my Monaco, but alas two C-bodies were too much. (Probably couldn’t get them both to fit in the shot!)

The movie is by the same guy who did Silver Linings Playbook and it has some of the same stars. It’s about a corruption scandal where the FBI ran a sting against some politicians. Should be interesting… and I can promise it will have great cars!

Congratulations!!! How about posting a few pictures of your car so we don't have to wait for the movie to see your 67 Monaco.

Very cool, congrats! I've been solicited many times to have my cars used for movies. A casting company are regulars at our Saturday morning cruise. I have many friends with horror stories as our beloved cars are simply props to the cast, crew and director and are not cares for very well on set. I am happy you had a positive experience but I will never allow any of my vehicles be used in the filming of a movie, t.v. show or commercial. Meguiar's solicited the use of my '64 GTO onstage at the Kodak Theater on Sunset Blvd. for their annual Meguiar's Award (pics below) that was televised on The Speed Channel, I believe. I got a scratch in my quarter panel to show for it which they would not repair. That was it for me. It was a cool experience but never again.

Sorry that they did such a terrible job with your GTO. Looks like a magnificent car--a real shame to scratch it. I guess I'm "lucky" that mine already has so many scratches and dings that no one would notice a few more...

I know exactly where that is at.

It's a charming spot. Maybe you also know Lisa, the local homeless/crazy lady who perched on my car's trunk for 20 mins while howling at the cops to give her a ride home (well not "home"... but she wanted to go somewhere else, anyway). They tried to convince her to move along, but eventually they did give her a ride... probably not to the place she was hoping for, though.

Sounds like it was my psycho cousin Joanne in Lynn. 250 lbs. and long black hair? Asking for money?

Probably not: very long black hair, but pretty slim. And the cops definitely called her "Lisa..." seemed like they knew her pretty well. Who knows, maybe next time I'll run into Joanne...

By the way that Imperial you were next to was a 64, not a 63...sounds like fun, but I too wouldn't want to be stuck with expensive repairs.

Argh... the driver (friend of the actual owner, who wasn't there) called it a '63. Those always remind me of Ferris Bueller's advice "If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up."
