Is there a good kit to add AC to a 67 Chrysler 300? I looked at the Vintage Air website, but didn't see anything.

Only two ways I know of.
Buy a Universal unit from Vintage. Classic Air, etc, and make it work or...
Buy a junk 67 Chrysler A/C car and refurbish it before putting it into your car.

I have a pretty complete system from a '68 440 that I'd let go cheap.

IMO, the '68 stuff should be plug 'n play, but what do I know? My '67 was ordered with A/C and cruise :yaayy:

Hi,

I went with the universal kit from vintage air for my 65 Newport non air car. So far everything is looking and mounting up great. I went with the gen 4 evaporator because I felt while non factory appearing the controls are much simpler. We will just make a custom plate that will go where the factory controls were and drill 3 holes in it for the control switches. I also am using a factory air dash and vents so that will look clean vs the plastic vents hanging under the dash. Not a cheap or easy solution but this car will get driven a lot and am doing a rottissere resto on it so now is the time vs later

Guess it depends on how "original" you want things to be, or look. Personally I would mount a dedicated AC unit under the dash, or better yet mount one in the trunk with vents blowing up through the package tray. That way you don't have to mess with your current heater system.

My 65 Newport has an after-market, under-dash unit (knee knocker), w/ York AC compressor. It works fine. I had converted it to R-134A for a while, which worked, but then switched to Duracool, which works as well or better, at lower compressor pressures. My under-dash is probably wider than needed. I expect a narrower one like in my Dart would work fine and give the passenger more leg-room. You can get a new under-dash unit for ~$110 on ebay, or $30 for a legacy used one. I am not sure if a factory AC unit is an option. I recall most C-bodies had AC vents in the dash, which your car may not have. The firewall is often different too.

Yup I'd do the same thing if it were me. They make these under dash units pretty slim these days...not like the old ones in the 70's. So you could actually have one of these...and a console shifted auto as well.

Call and get catalogs from all the A/C vendors...Vintage Air etc. They usually have all the dimensions of the underdash systems, so you can figure out which one would work best for you.
