Just a tip for an exact fit radiator for Formal Ny'er / Newport/ T&C. I recently got a ton of parts off a 1978 NY'er from a desert junkyard in El Paso, Texas. The radiator had part number 43-3506 on it. It was an exact fit, the shroud bolted up to it. It's a 2 row copper/brass core with metal tanks. It's available from Advance Auto for $205. I hope this useful info to somebody.

Good deal for a 2 row. My 2 row held up fine this summer in 107 degree, high humidity, bumper to bumper traffic in Carlisle and all summer long in Maryland.

Knowing what I know now, if the car is a keeper, I'd only go 3 row. I'd pay the premium.

Used to think that too, until I got to talk to an engineer who was familiar with the differences. In big two row cores, the tubes are deeper than in a three row. The core itself is the same thickness, but the two row tubes are just bigger. What also makes a difference is that each row of tubes has a direct shot at the incoming air. In a three row core, the third row is most likely located behind the first row. And the air getting to the third row has been heated up by the tubes in the first row.

Hope I've explained this properly, it's easier to draw than it is to describe.

Give me facts that make sense to me and I can be a very accepting guy.

BTW, I went to the parts store site noted and just for kicks said that I owned a formal New Yorker and wanted to see all the radiators they had for it. What came back was a real mix of junk that looked like it wouldn't fit, a few near-OEM choices like the one under discussion, and one that must have been made of solid gold because it was priced at nearly $700!! I would love to see that one.
