I am not sure, but I think there is another bolt hole on your alternator you might try taking the bolt out of its current hole and rotating it closer to the engine and aligning the slotted bracket with the other bolt hole. Of course, this would also mean that your belts are too long. Make sure your alternator wiring clears when doing this and of course disconnect the battery first.
