Another Hudson in my future?

So far, I think that is going to be the plan. Matte black with Lake pipes, two-tone green door panels and carpet with the two-tone brown seats, green or silver-painted roof with lace, and some killer '50s-style pinstriping! Oh, yeah, and the dash-mounted hula girl!
For such a seldom seen car, I like what you're thinking... I would personally like to see her stock wherever you can and a minor hotrod primer look you could reverse whenever you like. I would leave the bulkhead paint alone to that end.

Not that you need (or want) my opinion, but I think the lace might be a little too "modern" for my vision of the era you are emulating. Regardless, a really neat car... I'm happy you got her.

Went out to the shop this afternoon and worked on both the Imperial and the Hudson. Nearly 80* outside the day after Thanksgiving! You can't beat that, right?

Did some more sanding on the Jet, cleaned all of the windows, cleaned and polished the dashboard, sorted through some of the trim that is off the car to see if any of it is missing, polished some of the pot metal bits, and put my Hudson keys on my Doc Hudson key fob! Tomorrow, the battery is going in it, and I'll see how easily the engine turns over! Start it, maybe? I'll have to get a gallon of gas and run a line from that to the pump. I don't want to suck up any of the year-old fuel that is in it, even if it has had Sta-Bil added to it!

You know, I've owned many, many cars and trucks since I was 12 years old. None have ever had a name. Some people name their cars. I've never seen the desire or need to do that. They've always been girls, like maritime vessels and aircraft; but I've never named one. Not even the Coronet, which I've owned for nearly 38 years! The Hudson is different. Something about this Jet makes it a "Mabel" to me. The name fits the time she was built, and to me, it fits the car. So, Mabel it is!

I did some more under-dash work on the Imp. She needs a good drive and a cleaning! Last time it saw sunshine and road time was the first Saturday in July. Last week, I received a couple of bits from a guy in Minnesota that was parting a very rusty '66 coupe - a glove box lamp assembly and a perfect map light switch and bezel.

Ohh, the Hudson turns over so nicely! Got the battery out of the Coronet and wanted to see what would happen on the Jet. Good compression and spark! Get the new plug wires tomorrow and install those. l'll then hook up a can of gas and see if she'll start up!

No one has spark plug wires for a Hudson. I can find a generic 7mm six-cylinder set that I have to crimp the cap ends on, but they are 90* ends. I need straight ends! What to do??? Well, I have a buddy with a NAPA store that is about 35 miles away. I called him and they had the very same kit. Crap! He offered to MAKE me a set from wire off a roll, with straight connectors at both ends, measured to fit from my current set...for $46.00 total! Really! Hell, I'm all over that one! So, the plans for my off-day this week (Friday) is to make a drive there and get that done. Then install those wires and see if the car will start! It already turns over very nicely, so getting it to run should be a simple process. The cap, rotor and points are new already.

Other work on the car has been progressing, ever so slowly, but it IS progress. I got more of the stainless trim polished up, along with a couple more pot emblems. Found a near-perfect set of headlight rings in west Texas for a song, too.

Amazing how parts can find you for cheap sometimes. I cherish those moments, then hunt for the Unobtainium.

Went out to the shop to wrench on something (didn't care what!) as I haven't been out there for nearly three weeks due to the cold. Even with today's "warm" day of 39*F, it just sucked to be out there! So, no Hudson or Imperial updates this week. Next week promises to be just as miserable. Plus, today my heater decided it needed to die. Glad I have a gas fireplace that keeps the house reasonably comfy, but the heater is gonna take priority this week.

One bright spot - I have an audition for a national commercial on Monday. Should be fun! I'll let you know what happens there.

Actually we already have some secret footage beforehand. :D

I've been following this right along Patrick, lot of polishing and lots and lots of chit chat...
But how about some pics already! Hahaha
You're killing me here!

Didn't get the commercial. There will be others. In the meantime, nothing has happened on the Hudson since last report.
