900 Mile Range: Custom 1977 Chrysler Town & Country/New Yorker

The seller claims it has a 900-mile cruise range on a "50-gallon" fuel tank. Show me the second tank, since the original holds just 24 gallons. And a SBC, installed "for reliabilty and drivability"... WTF?

The people with the comments on the brakes and stopping distances I would like take for a ride and when I slap their head off the dash with a good brake stab. Well I can dream.

Not saying it was a good idea, but the TBI SBCs are a pretty reliable setup. But a 5.9 Magnum would've been SO much better a choice, though, and would surely beat a TBI-era combustion chamber as far as efficiency and MPG (and power, too!). Typical TBI SBC is about 175hp, Maggie would be 230-245 depending on the year.

Even easier would've been a retrofit TBI on the original engine, with a set of decent -516 head to up the CR and port velocity. Modern fuels evaporate more readily than older fuels, so the sealed system of EFI helps MPG to some extent by simply keeping the fuel contained in the vehicle and available for propulsion.

If it had an EFI 5.9 and A518 I bet he'd be getting lots of bids, that is truly a sweet-looking car, and a fabulous color combination.

That SBC/TBI/700R4 combo was exactly what was in my 93 RoadMaster...It was consistently close to 20MPG... but I don't follow fuel mileage religiously.

I hope that door in the homemade console is where the mechanical hand comes out to ***** slap the guy who built her and the guy who buys her... Looks like a nice car ruined IMO...

Amazing the trouble some will go to on engine swaps. The 350 is hardly an upgrade. I'm guessing the car was free, the engine was free, and his time was free.

Gorgeous looking wagon, wow! Hey what year was the last for a hardtop wagon for Ma Mopar?

Reality needs set in more on this one, Its got to be cheap enough for someone to buy and put mopar back under the hood. I thought the days of chevy implants was over, guess not.

I like it... minus the "Mouse" as many have observed.

Since original powertrain is gone, I feel I could take a liberty and put a stroked R/B - 727 combo I have laying around.

No other changes except white letter tires (and dual exhaust it it doesnt have it) .. a hint at what's hiding in the engine bay. :)

The only thing I would put a small block Chevy in is a dumpster.
Or maybe... a chevy...

You couldn't do anything wrong going back to a 440... but I have serious doubts this guy would come off his price enough to make it worthwhile.

I bet it will be for sale for a good long while. The odds of finding another person that likes the SBC transplant, that wants to pay that much are pretty slim. That car and an SBC are so opposite ends the audience would be small. Maybe he will end up pulling this engine to sell just like the one that was in it and sell it as a roller for less

The custom center console looks neatly constructed, and houses some auxiliary gauges and what looks like some sort of cubby.

My ***! I think it's a laundry chute. If that SBC powers an underdash Whirlpool™, it would be nice for long road trips.

Um, what is the point of all the moldings if you don't have the woodgrain? Yuck.
Also going to guess we don't see a picture of the rear seat folded down because it doesn't.

Best-looking color and bodystyle for a formal wagon. Looks like a classy, motorized, wine-barrel.

Is there a difference ?
Absolutely, I load all the crap I want to keep into the chevy to move it around... The stuff I load into the dumpster, I want to go away. On second thought... you have a point.

It may have been hacked up enough putting a GM drive train in there that returning a 440 to its rightful place would be a major project.
Gawd knows what was cut, modified, and removed

Besides, this hack is driving me crazy...

It also has the Newport cornering lights...if you're going to swap to the Imperial front clip, then use the correct cornering lamp with the side marker light!
I agree again with Carmine...these cars need woodgrain.
