Any vintage tractor owners?

99 percent of what you'll need will come from carpenter...all states agricultural parts are good for some hard parts he didnt have (needed spindles and hubs for my 53)...Steiner has some how to videos out there....yesterdays tractors has a forum...usually if you search whatever you're trying to fix the answers will pop up on one forum or another....btw that taped up mess of a shift boot...if the boot is bad rain will run down into the gearbox and fill it with water....besides the obvious problems with that they can freeze in the winter and refuse to move
I'm fortunate that one of my local mopar friends is also a huge N series owner/collector (currently has 6), he's my go too, I stopped by his farm on my way home with it yesterday and he gave me his seal of approval on it, he also had a care package waiting for me with everything I needed to dig into it including a photo copy of the FSM.

I posted this one when I bought it last year but I love it more every time I get on it. 1972 JD 1020 with a loader and a brush hog. I do a little more work to it all the time. I'm fixing it a little at a time and it's saving me a TON of back braking work.

ytmag.com is a good resource for all makes IMO.

The first pic is when I brought it home and the second is it peaking over the hill down back.

Before finding Lucifer, I nearly bought a 1020. It didn’t have a bucket.
I probably would have been ok with the 1020, but I am glad that I picked up a tractor that has a little more power.
I too continue to add / improve the situation with Lucifer. I bought a set of rear tires last year and that made a huge difference.

Enjoy!

can you see the one peddle trackor there in green /yellow , oh ya i few wagons as well .

The Ford models 9N, etc were and are a good tractor. Henry Ford had hired the guy who patented the 3 point hitch (Harry Ferguson - Massey-Ferguson fame) and for many years, Ford Tractors exclusively had them.
I used to own a Ferguson 35. Harry Ferguson was the original developer of the 3 point hitch. Just a couple weeks ago cleaning up the yard I listed and sold a Ferguson 3 pt cultivator and 2 bottom plow that I haven’t used for years.

Nick, it's awesome to hear about your passion for agriculture and your new '42 2N "War Horse"! Finding a complete tractor with the Sherman Combo Auxiliary transmission for $700 sounds like a fantastic deal.

My 5 acres stayed soaked all year. These fixed it. The pros said I needed 40 loads ($$$$$$$$) of fill, they were wrong.
The 42 dozer cuts it, the 78 backhoe moves it around, and the 41 grader smooths it over.
My advice to a novice wanting to fix a yard on the cheap would be to put a box scraper with ripper on a tractor.

Why farm some, when you can Farmall! The original Farmall turned 100 in 1923, my F-30 is only 87. I also have a 1934 McCormick Deering I-12, two IH 3444's, and 4 IH Cub Cadets.

1964 Ford 4000 Diesel with 5-speed and power steering. I've owned this for ten years, and it has only 149 hours on the top-end rebuild - it had just two hours when I bought it. It's used for brush-hogging, grading the driveway, and yanking the occasional stump. It's the third Ford I've owned, besides an 8N and a Ford Japanese-built under license 4WD mini-tractor. It could really use a pair of new rear wheels and tires, but it does what I need it to. Were I earning a living with it, that would've been done long ago.
