Dave, the tinted windows are triggering a memory that I have seen this car before... possibly on this site.
Outside of the car looks nice... inside is toast... that friggin' Las Vegas sun!

Sweet looking car, are those American Motors center caps?

I would say "yes", they are AM center caps since the gear on the end is too small and the margin around it is too wide to be the Chrysler center cap.

Originally a red car that I think looks better as is. I think this is the first time I've seen something other than an inspectors mark on the metal tab sticking out from under the tag.

Fred, the owner of this car recently passed away. His brother showed me the car. It may for sale in the near future and if it is available I will post several other photos I have of the car. Definitely AMC caps! I have set of them also. Yes the windows are tinted very dark. Trying to fight the sun and lost, I suppose. I wondered what that metal tab sticking out of the tag was also. Anybody know what it is?

I like the original combo of red with white top and interieur more.
Unusual to see a colour change on a c-body (compared to B&E-Bodies)

The general consensus is that the tag is just a punch tag for line inspectors to sign off on and aren't unusual.

New safety regs? Wtf... can you explain? What are they up to now?
The classic cars will not be affected by the new regulations.
The safety requirements we are following now are outdated by 35 years.
The new requirements now include airbags,ABS and traction control systems to be functioning in order to pass the inspection if the car is so equipped. Plus the check engine light cannot be on either.
As a shop,we will now have to do a required road test, record thickness of friction materials (pads, rotors) tire treadd deppths.

As for the 70 NYer,the Class A mechanic will have to measure the play of the ball joints, and if they are still within spec--even if they do have play--you are allowed a certain amount--he cannot fail them just because they have play.
