Hello -

My Fury came with the broadcast sheet when I bought it. I've checked out the online decoders, but not many of the codes seem to match up, and I'm trying to figure out exactly what the car came with.

Under axle it lists 293 - can I assume that that's the ratio? There's no 293 in any of the code lists.

I bought it as a 383 4spd car with 4 wheel manual drum brakes, an AM radio, and no AC, but I'd like to know what the car was when it left the factory.

Anyone out there good with broadcast sheet codes?

Thanks in advance...

Chris

Code 293 is the assembly code. It takes into account the body application (A, B, C, etc) due to width, the gear ratio, whether it had sure grip or not and the size of the brakes drums.

code 373 on the top line tells us the car has 3.23 gears.

Broadcast sheets contain Administrative info (Sales order number, VIN, etc) sales/option codes and assembly codes. You just have to learn which one of these you are looking at.

I can help decode the sheet but it would have to be via phone. It takes too long to type the info plus talking allows for follow up questions...let me know.

Most of the boxes have two digits. The third digit makes up the three digit sales code. For the boxes with three digits, if the car has that option the third digit will be printed. Anyway, a unique car -

Well, the broadcast sheet confirms it came with a 383 (2-bbl) engine, 4 speed transmission, no power steering, no power brakes, (no disc brakes on C bodies in 1965), AM radio (radios optional in 1965 - thus no "radio delete") and heater / defroster unit but no AC.

1965 was the first year the heater / defroster was standard equipment. (In prior years it was a mandatory option in Canada). Interesting that both heater/defroster (405) and heater delete (406) were listed for 1965.

As you may already know, the broadcast sheet format was used on all car lines back
in the day and the 406 code was still listed probably for the Hemi B body Super Stock , FX (altered wheelbase) and other "body in white" NASCAR factory race cars.

Thanks to all for their input!!!! At least I know that this is an original 4spd car, though it's odd that it came with a 2bbl engine. The car came with what I believe is the original engine, a REALLY tired 383. I was going to have it built, but I found a complete, running, recently rebuilt 440 for half the price of a rebuild, that that's the route I took.
