I'd have put two jack stands under the rear axle so i could slide easily in and out but that is me. Kind of like this in a way...

Regarding OP's question, I backed my wagon onto steel ramps. They're high enough that I could roll under the back of the car all the way to the muffler. I could also reach from the side (though it helps that I have long arms).

THAT is absolutely whacked. How did they get the truck up that high to place the boards under it and how pray tell, how are they going to get it back down?
