Anyone know this NYB??

May quest has resumed. I just received an email yesterday from the foreign couple that bought the car in Maryland to travel cross country in an American classic. His name is JAMES Stevenson. He provided me with the dealer information in Las Vegas that he sold the car too when they left the country..

I contacted the dealer this morning regarding the car. The gentleman I spoke with was not at the dealership at a time the car was sold there, but seemed to wanna help me locate the people that purchased a car from them. We’ll see... making headway slowly but Surely. Mr. Stevenson is going to send me some additional pictures of the car during their cross country track. I’m excited all over again. I’ll keep you guys posted as things progress.

I’m so damn excited I almost Peed myself. I got a call back today from the dealership in Las Vegas. The salesman was able to locate the New Yorkers current owner and spoke with him. The current owner has agreed to speak with me about a purchase deal. I’m gonna call him tomorrow and hopefully get the deal done. If things go the way I hope they will. This New Yorker will be at Carlisle in 2019.. yayayayay!!!!

Does the foreign guy or a car dealer own the car right now?

Open the attached file for the email. I tried to attach it but wasn’t sure how, hope you guys are able to open it and read it. Great story.

ou’re such an avid fan of the New Yorkers. I’d love it if you could keep me posted on your search as I’ve always wanted to know what happened to ‘Gandalf’ as he was nicknamed by the previous owner’s daughters.

We bought the car in June 2014 before having ever set foot in America. My father being a previous car salesman has an eye for these things and assisted with the purchase from overseas.

The car was bought for the sole purpose of driving coast to coast and living out a childhood dream. Ever since I was a young lad living in England, I’d wanted to drive across the States in a classic American car. With this New Yorker we more than fulfilled that dream.

It took us from our starting point of Maryland; to Shenandoah, Asheville, Nashville, Memphis, New Orleans, Houston, Austin, Albuqueque, San Diego and up the West Coast including driving Big Sur. We then travelled inland for a little layover in Burning Man festival, then back to the Oregon coast and up to Portland. From there we headed for Salt Lake City and down to the Grand Canyon and surrounding national parks. Sometimes we slept in the car. Often we pitched our tent. The other times staying in all kinds of motels, hotels and hostels along the way. We finished our epic 3 month journey in Vegas and sold the car with a mere 5 hours to go before our onward flight out to Costa Rica. Quite the journey I think you’ll agree.

The car did spend a fair bit of time in the mechanics as you can probably imagine. I remember the power steering pump in particular causing a fair bit of grief. We were also averaging 8.5 miles to the gallon in the hotter and higher altitude states towards the end of the trip so it wasn’t a cheap holiday by any means! Still, i’d do it all again in a heartbeat.

My one big regret was not keeping the tags at the end of our trip. I was told I’d get registration money reimbursed for posting them back to the Maryland office. The lady on the line never told me this would be a measly $25. A really sore point, given that the plates read ‘Historic’ and had the number 066. Such a shame.

Anyway that’s my story in a nutshell. I truly loved that car in the short period we owned him. I hope he is still alive and kicki

John,

I'm going to need you to find my 69 Super Bee and 73 Ralleye Challenger after you get this car. LOL!

Negative on both accounts. Mr. Stevenson sold the car to a dealer in Vegas before boarding a plane and leaving the country. According to the dealer I spoke to yesterday the car still in Vegas. I’ll be speaking with his current owner today..

I'd imagine all of us reading this thread are excited, but John you must be pacing the floor!

Please say that your intentions are to personally drive it back east! :usflag:

Assuming the car is still roadworthy, that'd be a great idea... Just my luck! She's on blocks with parts missing.. Obviously Hope not though..

Be sure to check out the steering, suspension, tires, engine compartment and lights. If everything checks out....drive her. No one would think any less of you to trailer it home. That's a big trip with a car you never driven before and don't know the condition and dependability
