Can someone please tell me how to remove the ash tray from the center of the dash on a 66 Newport? I cant imagine its that hard, but I don't want to damage it trying to figure it out.

Bonus question: Should the lighter be wired constant "hot" or only with the ignition on?
Thank you.

Most of the ash trays come out by pushing the tab at the back of them and pulling forward, the same tab that a lot of folks use to put out their smokes. Most were wired hot. If you have kids, wire it with a relay to the ignition.

If you are trying to remove the whole assembly, not just the insert, JCT is correct.

4 screws - two on each side of the whole drawer assembly, plus 3 or four along the bottom. You have to pull the drawer out to see the screws on the side. Removing all the screws will allow the sliding drawer AND the track/frame assembly it slides within to come out as a unit. You'll need to disconnect the wire from the back of the lighter, and disconnect the two lights from above the ash trays. The lights can either be disconnected at their connectors (behind the ash drawer assembly), or the bulbs can be pulled out of the bulb tubes, and the tubes put in the ash receivers.
