Hello folks. I own a 71 New Yorker with low miles and I have a quick question about the auto ll temp set up..did these systems have issues with the blower..the one in my car will only work (ingauge) about half the time..would the thermostat be a possible cause or is age a factor..thanks

ATC II is one of the most vexing systems Chrysler ever developed. There are several experts here who will chime in with advice shortly I'm not one as none of my cars have AC :(

Over to you guys...

I have a 1973 Chassis Service Manual, if you need the 20 pages about Auto-Temp 11 I can e-mail them to you..........

Most likely cause is a faulty check valve, and there are a few of them in the system. They are small white circular parts in the vacuum lines, some of which are under the dash near the front of the carpet. Having an Auto Temp II tester will help identify the exact cause of the system not turning on reliably, at least when it surfaces. But this is the most common reason. Auto Temp II is not that hard to deal with, Auto Temp I (1968 - 1970) is...............

Thanks for the offer brother it's not critical I only drive the land cruiser from may until late September. .I've been reading online and sounds like those auto temp ll are not the most user friendly or cheap to repair so I am ok right now but I will keep your offer on my list..thanks..I live in Calgary and I love the windows down so I never use the air..but if I decide to flip the car in the future I will get it working correctly. .all the best.
