Had a great trip up north to MI last week. A great time getting to visit with family, and friends. The car did great the whole time! Drove well over 3,200 miles without a hiccup. She did get a little bitchy on a couple start ups on the way back down in the hotter southern states, but didn't stop her. She also saved me from a couple tickets!!

The girlfriend and I set out a week ago saturday (aug 31st). Drove through the night. Got into OH sunday morning. We were driving along US 33 (a middle of nowhere 55mph highway). We were getting low on gas, and the 2 stations we stopped at were still closed, I was getting a little ancy trying to find one. A state cop in the oncoming side caught me going 66mph. Flipped the lights on and turned around.. "oh ****.." Pulled over, and gave him my out of date insurance tab (didnt have the current one), along with registration, and license. I thought I was screwed. Then he started asking about the car. He didnt even go back to his car with my info, just asked for a picture, and even pointed me in the direction of an open gas station. Thank God!!

After another hour or so of driving, met up with Ross. Was nice getting to meet up with ya Ross! I got to see the toys, and chat for a little bit. Didn't get any pics though. Next time when I have a little more time I'll have to get a ride in the challenger!

Was in a bit of a hurry, so only got a few pics of the trip...

After 18 hours, finally made it. The car hasnt been back home in almost 2 years.

The weather was BEAUTIFUL all week. mid 70's, no rain, no humidity, and clear. Was busy meeting up with people, and doing things all week. Didn't get to do everything I wanted for lack of time. Sorry Matt, I never got out your way.

One night, I got to meet the daughter Enid, and her husband of the original owners of the monaco. She even owned it for a few years. She is the one that brought it to MI from OR when her mom offered it to her. They loved seeing the car after so many years. Had a great time talking with them.

Still waiting on a couple pics from them. My camera died, luckily my mom was with me, and had her cell..

Rocking your shirt Dave!

Awesome! I can't wait to road trip in one of my old Mopars. Looks like you had a good time. Cool car too!

Also met up with another bluesmobile buddy, and finally got to see his car. He really has been bringing her back from death. Shes a 1974 monaco Marin county sheriff car.

Heres what she looked like 2 years ago.

Here she is after recently being at the body shop for a year or so.

I took several reference pics for some metal work I need to do on mine..

He has BIG plans for this car, including a 572 hemi. He wants to male a pro touring car out of her, with one off custom everything, and keep her as movie accurate as possible. Heres a link to his thread if interested. Ross, I think you would get a kick out of it!

Did a few other things, mostly family stuff. Did get to hit a car show in chelsea. Where were you Jer?!

The girlfriend ended up buying a new to her car, while visiting with her family in Illinois. An 05 sebring, with 44,000 miles. She did good! She had me a little worried, as I wasn't with her. But surprised to see it when we met back up.

A couple shots on the way back down..

We got back this last sunday night, and right back to work monday morning. Been trying to play catchup! I've got a lot of reading on here to do!

If not........what did they say when they saw it?

I'm so sorry guys!! It happens every time I go up there it seems. Once everyone I know finds out I'm there, they all want to visit, and what not. Theres always people I never get to see, and I always feel like I'm blowing them off.. But I don't mean to. Only have so much time, and its never enough. Plus family takes presenance if you know what I mean...

Yea jer! I was at that little show at wendys tuesday with some friends. I kept an eye out! I deff should have PM'd you!! I didn't take my computer with me, but still had the phone. I did get to see Jim at ohara as well, for a min. They actually worked on the car for a few, fixing an exhaust leak for me.

Next time for sure!! I can't promise the car will be with me. I love driving, but flying is SO much easier! Besides my car is coming apart here in the next few weeks, for some much needed metal work, as I was telling/showing Ross. She needs some love. But thats another thread!

Thanks Bob! No she was a regualr brown monaco. I actually got on the desktop back home, that had a bunch of old pictures. I managed to email a few to me to get on the current computer.

Here she is the very day I brought her home. The gentleman in the blue hat is the guy I bought it from. He bought it from Enid back in '98 I believe. Thats my dad in the tan coat.

You can see why she rusted so much through out the years!! Thanks MI salt!!

I talked to Enid weeks ago over the phone, and told her how the car looked very diffferent. I wasn't sure how they would react. But they liked it! They were not car people by any means. Her husband asked me "so I believe this is the small hemi motor yes?" lol.

They also told me how they had to do a bunch of work to her, and she never seemed to run right. Said the car was always very hard to start. Also one year the rear window got blown out for some reason sitting at the house, and how mad he was cause he had to spend $500 for a new window back then.

They were very amazed when I leaned in, bumped the key, and she fired right up. I took em for a little ride around the block. Her hurband said the car seems to be in better hands, as it never ran this good when they owned it.

I told Enid the car has been down a couple drag tracks, so now Enid think it is a "race car" haha. It was a blast though! Hopefully she will send me her pictures she took soon..

Excellent story on the Blumo and a great trip Zac!!!

Always nice to get back to the old owners. Not sure what an original car guy like myself would say if someone shows up with one of my old cars completely altered, probably couldn't relate to it, but I wouldn't blame him either.

They're prolly thrilled to learn that it's now a race car. ;)
