Amazing to me that they did all that engine mods, yet sticking out like a sore thumb is the rusted PB booster and master cylinder. You think they could spare some black paint. I agree someone tweaked the photo settings. I always find in interesting when people mod cars what items they deem important, and which they ignore.

She has to been to Carlisle. Very nice car that I'd like to own
I believe I was parked next to that car. Nice car and the owner was OK. I didn't care for the serpentine belt system though. He said something about not being able to make the OE system work with the A/C compressor and decided to go with the serpentine.

I agree - I noticed the swaybar bushings have some wear. That would be a relatively cheap and simple fix (aside from drilling and bolting the framelink pieces back together).

But then again, I don't always make sense to others either - 'Look how cockeyed he works. New wipers on a busted windshield'.

Look at the fuel line here:

Where you can see it's been rubbing the air cleaner. But heck, it's just a 50-60 psi rubber line right above the exhaust manifold, what could go wrong?

This is why modifyed cars sell for less money than original. I'll trust 50 y/o engineering any day over something along the lines of "convert your car to EFI in an afternoon!"

There are cars out there where the modifications are well thought-out and executed. I just don't see them very often.

V1X - is that the code for black vinyl?

Yes, and it sorely needs it back IMO. And the back end of this New Yorker sits too low.

Attached is a photo of my 1971 New Yorker in the same high impact yellow, and it has mostly the factory original paint on it. My Cuda next to it is just slightly a little too yellow when it was repainted about 25 years ago when it was restored. Even then paint colors were hard to match correctly. The lighting in my photos also makes it a little hard to tell the exact correct color due to the lighting variations from daylight to garage lights transition.

I thought it looked better without the black vinyl top when it was painted. I still have the corner pieces to put one on it if someone wants to. To each his own.

OK, I know I'm going to piss many of you off here, but something came to my mind the minute I saw the engine bay - and I'm mad at myself for thinking it. But the words of many of my A, B, and E body friends from Bakersfield would have said when seeing this, "Nice motor, wrong car." It's... a... New Yorker. Nice car, but....

I think there are some cool idea here... Probably not executed the best....
However in the question poster states:
""
Q: hi, what can you tell me about any rust repair, on sheetmetal or chasiss area? thanks.
A: Before it was painted, there was a small hole by the drivers side rear glass that was patched

However both lower quarters seem to not align to the rear valance and
the right lower seems to curve under rather drastic....
Also the rear wheel well lip is wayy too smooth .....
So I have to wonder about the claim of not much rust or body work .....
Both door arm rest need to be replaced..

So poster wants top dollar but doesn't seem to want to do the small
details to even justify top dollar...

Also could paint/dye those door panels cloth parts.
If its rust free etc no bondo, just do some detailing, door panels, fuel hose, paint PB etc... and it would be rly nice car.

I can address the valance fit pretty easily.... They never fit all that great to begin with and if you look close, you'll see the valance is bolted to the underside of the bumper lip rather than the top of the lip. I spotted that because mine came home from the body shop with the same issue.

As I said, I saw the car and even though I didn't pour over it, it looked pretty good to me.

As far as the rest, since the owner has posted in this thread, why not ask him here?

I like the slick top.
I had to put 2 rear mains in before i got it to seal. The car has had a left quarter panel put on it at some point in its life. I found an NOS rear valance in Florida still in the factory box with red primer. I had a local body shop install it last spring. As far as the body work whatever was done before we purchased the car 15 years ago I can't say. Anyone who's seen the car knows that it look pretty good for 46 years old. The things I did to the car was for my benefit and I know that not everyone likes it or would have done it the same way. As stated in the ad I have all the original parts to put it back stock. The a/c compressor was changed mainly for the looks and the belts were always vibrating no matter how tight you got them. Everyone has there opinion and I respect that however the haters are gonna hate no matter what you do. Thanks for looking guys.

Hmm, chrome p/s pump. Chrome a/c compressor. Yawn...

I don't know about others but for me the more the car is modified the less it is worth. However, I am sure the owner thinks there is a $1 for $1 return on his mods. Some people just shouldn't try to "restore" cars.
