Just ran into a goofy scenario. Running a 2 groove crank, single alt and that lines up fine. Using a factory power steering pump bracket, my post 75 PS pump is inline with the alt/wp grooves. The bracket has no adjustment and before I go and blow 50 bucks on an early style PS pump does anyone have any ideas?

Can you supply pics? I'm a visual person and might be able to help after seeing it.

Heres some pics for visual reference.

Okay I can see that it lines up with the other pulleys being used by the water pump and the alternator. I got it clear in my head now. Its a pity you dont have a double groove pulley on the alternator because if you did then I could have suggested you get the shallower water pump pully and use the forward pulley grooves for the alternator/water pump, then the rear groove on the crank to go to the power steering pump. As it is, either you change the power steering pump or the alternator and water pump pully.

Well seeing as I just replaced the water pump and crank pulley...., I do have a 2 groove alternator btw.

Any reason I can't run the belts reversed? As in one belt just for the alternator, 1 for water pump and PS?

Oh, if you do have a double pulley on an alternator than yes, you can run the alternator directly off the crank if you wish. I don't think there is any issues with running the power steering and water pump together.

Really I don't know why it didn't dawn on me before. ind of stupid of me. Any issue due to the different pulley diameter on the crank pulleys>

Seeing the small difference in the diameter from your pic on the crank I cant see it being a major issue, try it. Once you have the alternator hooked up, check the voltage output and if it is within normal parameters you are good to go.

I would try and find Saginaw power steering pump and brackets.

Im going to agree. Alternator belt alignment is of by 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch. Will one of the aftermarket brackets from 440 source work? And about that PS pump, will an Autozone pump which is keyed and not pressed work?

Buchillion would be my choice for brackets. With a keyed pump you are expected to use your pulley, which you do not have so if a pressed on one comes with a pulley I would just go that route.

I have no problem ordering a pulley. I have also come close to concluding I have a federal pump and not a saginaw.

So just to report back, I ordered a new Saginaw pump, brackets, and pulley with bolts. Installing it tonight should be fun and ill be able to let you guys know the fitment.
