So I'm thinking of swapping my '67's bench seat to bucket seats from my '66. Of course the buckets would be re-upholstered to match the interior, but i'm not sure that they would look right. Any thoughts on this or reasons not to do the swap?
Here are some pictures:

some four door cop cars had buckets...
In 1968/69 the mid size could be had with buckets...
Personally,, I say go for it......

One of the main reasons that I'm even considering doing this is for comfort (and safety). Since Mary almost definitely won't make it to Carlisle :( my Dad and I will be taking the Moose, which he has great difficulty riding in due to his neck. Thanks for the responses so far.

Another question: Are the seat frames for '66 the same as other years and bodies (A,B)?

Buckets in a 4DSD would be odd, which would make your car even odder at the cruise ins.

I got lucky and found a console/bucket interior parts car with power driver's seat and reclining passenger with headrest.

I had the buckets redone and serviced the power mechanism. Then installed them in the Silver Custom.

The ability to get the driver's seat "exactly" where I wanted it was well worth the time and money investment.

Maybe find a buddy seat set up and upholster everything to match?

It's your car so make it your own.

Might as well be comfortable while your driving.

I would only add that all the modifications I do to the Newps are reversible. And I save everything that I remove.

Hope the input helps.

John

Screw aesthetics... If dad cant ride or drive with the bench, it's a no brainer... just dont trash the bench, it can always go back in later.

I have (factory original) buckets in a 4dr c-body. Without a buddy seat, they would be LESS comfortable than a bench. They offer nothing special by way of lumbar or thigh support and not many had a passenger recliner. One nice bench seat upgrade is to buy one of those consoles they sell for old timey pickups. You get an armrest, storage and decent cupholders.

If it aint broke. I would leave the bench. Its a crusier, Not a muscle Car.

And if your holding your Girlfriend next to you and the mood hits...its nice to have a Bench. Try doing it in the back of a Jeep. Not fun.

I actually have been looking to put buckets in my 69 2 dr. My front seat is junk and not out of a C body anyhow, I think its a B body seat. I found some that were black out of a mid 70's Charger and were nice for 80 bucks! Of course when I called they had been sold. The search continues.

I tried a C body seat in my B body once... I lost close to 6 inches of headroom IIRC. For me, that couldn't stay... so the torn up old seats went right back in.
