Old Man with a Hat
This show is at the top of the list along with Carlisle. Carlisle features more cars and parts, but The Big Easy Mopar show in New Orleans in march is a LOT more fun. We'll be attending both from now on as long as we can.
We arrived on Thurs afternoon, dropped the camper off at the RV park and drove into the French quarter to discover that it was St. Patrick's day, a big deal in New Orleans. Dinner and drinks on a balcony overlooking Bourbon St. and a birds eye view of the St. Patrick's day parade.
Friday is the kick off day with planned events starting in 3 tour busses at 8 AM and finally returning at 10:00 PM. First stop, Harrad's casino on Canal St. Ellie and I aren't big on casinos so we wandered the quarter for a couple of hours until the busses returned. Then... to Mardi Gras world. The place on the shore of the Mississippi where all the characters and floats featured in the Mardi Gras parades are created, maintained, upgraded and stored.
Then back to the quarter for a few hour's, then a bus trip to the kick off party. A Grammy award winning Zydeco band played all evening, A huge meal featuring local LA fare prepared by Big Easy club members. All the King Cake vodka and hurricane shooters you could drink, and professional dance instructors to teach Zydeco dance steps.
Enough words....... time for pictures......
