My AC blower suddenly started making a deep throated rumble yesterday. No bueno. Any ideas before I start taking things apart? Is there any routine lubrication or cleaning required?
Try running it on its highest speed for a couple of minutes, then turn it on low speed. If its a leaf it might break off, if it continues run awhile longer or remove fan motor. If its the bearings it will sound like mables rolling fast. If its a leaf type object it sounds like a card in you bicycle spokes.
I've had success with drilling a tiny hole in the end of the motor can where the bearing/bushing is and dropping a little lite oil in. It will usually quite down.
The culprit. A couple of pieces of insulation. Easy peasy. The only thing that was a b!t(h to do was unfasten and fasten the 1/4" sheet metal screws that hold the blower assembly in place. No easy access and the ring it mounts into is crooked. The top screw was halfway under the firewall edge.
