Hey guys,

There is a gentleman selling a 1970 booster out of a Newport on here

My question will this be the correct booster for my 73 spindle swap on my 66 Newport?

Thank you!
Derek

Is it a disc brake car?

If yes then the answer is maybe lol.

This is assuming your Newport is a column shift car.

I have one off a disc brake 69 300 on my 66 and it fits fine. The problem is my car is console shift so I can't tell you for sure if it would interfere with a column linkage or not.

If I had to guess I would say it would work because it appears to be no bigger in diameter than the original drum booster, just longer.

I'm not sure what year they changed to the bigger single diaphragm booster. Everyone says 68 is the last year for the dual diaphragm and if that is so, maybe mine was off an early 69 that got leftover parts.

The bigger diameter single diaphragm booster like the 73 has will fit a 66 but you won't be able to select manual low with a column shift because the linkage will hit the booster.

This is a drum brake booster and won't be as efficient as a dual diaphragm unit.

Derek:

In 1973 Mopar used 2 different boosters. The first type was a single diafram unit. This type was used on vehicles that came standard with drum brakes. If you are converting to disk brakes, you will need the bendix double diaphram unit that came with disk brakes, usually on big block cars. Keep in mind that you are going to need a portioning valve and the correct master cylinder to make the disk brake conversion as well as the larger brake tubing for the front axle, new brake hoses for the disk brakes would be a good idea too. For quick ID, the single type unit looks about like the one you currently have. The double unit is about an inch longer.
