Brake light

Hello all,
Does anyone know why my brake light would be continuously on.
The brakes are fine, and the fluids are up.

1973 Newport

Any thoughts

If all of your brake lights are on all of the time, then your brake light switch is likely bad. Unplug the wire to the switch which is located on the brake pedal assembly by the pivot point and don’t drive the car until you get a new switch.

Sorry I meant the light in the instrument panel

There can be two reasons. One @Big_John just mentioned. The other one is the brake system warning light SWITCH in the pressure block below the master cylinder (on a dual master cylinder OEM brake system). If one end of the system lost pressure, the internal switch moves off-center and turns on the light. It might not automatically return to the center when the issue is repaired, but has a procedure to re-center the switch. Procedure should be in Chrysler service literature.

Just some thoughts,

Thank you
I will look into both suggestions

And the easy way to check that is to unplug the wire from that switch.

I would be surprised if that's the problem because there was no mention of losing pressure (like bad brake hose etc.) or any work being done, so that internal switch should not have moved. But, again, really easy to check and I'm all about checking the easy stuff first.
