Trying to figure out if the trim is aluminum? Or Stainless?

The anodizing material doesn't polish well, by the way.
If you're looking to renew them, best way is to strip them (using Lye based oven cleaner, or have them professionally stripped), polish them and have them re-anodized.
The better of the polishing job, the better the anodizing result.
The process is called Brite-Dip, I believe.

Thanks Ross! I have a guy who did all of my exterior trim using that process and the question came up when I approached him about doing the seat trim.
