If it sold it would show, ended by the seller could mean a couple of things, bids were bogus, he ended it early but he had no mention of the right/option to ended it early ie someone did a deal outside of the auction.

Can't really speak to how they would know, they could ban you going forward if they wanted. Not familiar with the algorithms they use to detect fraud

I hear about circumventing eBay auction with Daytona 500 tickets, many brag, I really don't get it or how they do it.
On the flip side of the I hate eBay coin, while reading up on BaT horror stories one guy in a well known long standing forum won a classic motorcycle that he really wanted, then someone contacted the seller outside eBay and bought it for more than the auction end. The guy wasn't short on means and got a lawyer and sued. Won the case, got the bike plus damages & court costs. shady **** I'll tell ya.
