Bye Bye Pentastar

Same here, I've said it on this forum before, if it weren't for Mopar I'd be a Ford guy because of the 1960s Galaxies and that '68 Mustang fastback.

I'd have been in because of the Bronco. Well that and the Lincoln Mark VII.

To call Mary Barra over at GM a "bimbo" tells me you know nothing about her. She is fantastic

She is the appointed fall guy for the Administration. Sure, nearly everything that puts GM in a negative light currently, came before she became CEO. But, she is the current face of GM, and as such, hasn't exactly presented herself as knowledgeable about the foibles of the company. I'm not impressed. Plus have GM's problems gotten better under her guidance? Doubtful. She may have a reasonably impressive resume' from her previous experiences, but this is nothing more than window dressing.

BTW, guys, FIAT is an acronym, just like GMC is. Would you write or type Gmc? No? FIAT is the same way...Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino

GMC? Giant Mound of Crap? General Malfunction Co-op?

Or the Canadian version, Greg Mary and Charlie? I've never met them. But I'm sure they're really really nice.

The thing that FIAT will be able to do is stop the increase of the $5.5 Billion liability. That in itself will save ChryCo.

Golly, Molly's Crazy

I just wish they would have kept on point and never made a 4 door charger to begin with......... To me it's just a name now. It doesn't represent a true Charger anymore. To me!! Now they did alright in my opinion with the Challenger........

I guess you could say Chrysler did the same thing in 1962, when they changed the 300 from what it had been to just another option package. It was no longer an exclusive car model. Lotta letter-car guys are still crying about that. . .

We show and drive our 69 300 a lot and I constantly hear the comment by the younger growd ....... "I didn't know they made 300's back then".

I guess it's a sign of the times ....... just not my time.

Being an American company I don't pick on GM to much. Sure I have fun with my Chevy friends but the real demon is the foreign boys...... Honda, Toyota and the likes .

The only American automobile maker I respect these days is Ford.

Chrysler's gone, and Government Motors will never get one cent from me.

Thing is, the foreign owned companies produce more here than the American companies do. I think it's because they don't have the unions to deal with so the costs are lower and the business is more efficient and thus profitable/sustainable. Also if the cars are built here they don't pay the tariffs they would have to on imported cars. I'd have no problem buying a made in Alabama Toyota rather than an made in Mexico Ram.

I just can't do it.... And remember, all those companies got huge tax breaks to come here, huge. Another reason they're here.

The Toyota Tacoma trucks, and the Toyota Tundra trucks are built here in San Antonio,Tx. Toyota put a plant in a few years ago........

Well yeah. That's what everybody should be doing, trying to pay the least amount of taxes possible. And by everybody, I'm referring to consumers. Corporations don't pay taxes, they get their money from the end-consumer. They pay more taxes, we have higher prices. Taxes, it's why many corporations have left the country. You can't be the country with highest taxes and expect companies to stay.

The ultimate insult: A Toyota Prius with an Obama sticker on the back window. . .

GM is doing the same crap they did before they got in financial trouble they are too busy competing with themselves, copying what others do and adding a gimmick to the vehicle so that it sells. If they were the only car company we would still be driving a splash oiled six cylinder that locks up over 3300 rpm, they are like the kid on your block that saw something someone did turns around shows you it the next day left handed and then tells you he thought of it, you put up with them because you feel sorry for them. Maybe GMC is a acronym for gimmick, or giant marketing machine, they certainly did not contribute much worthwhile products to the auto industry, except flood the market with crap.

Sorry, but Dan Akerson was appointed to lead GM out of bankruptcy, not her. Mary was chosen by Dan to lead the company in the future early this year after considering all his options. I really do not believe you are current on what is going on under her leadership. And she is very capable and has the right vision for the future, which is the complete end of the old GM culture and to make GM the best in the business. I am very impressed with her.

If FCA was just another Italian takeover rather than a union of two smaller companies making a good effort at becoming more sustainable for the future in order to survive, they probably would care less about the past than this spot would suggest. They are building on the past and remember where they have been.

Neither the takeover by Daimler designed only to rob Chrysler of their accumulated cash for future product development (which cash was used to redesign Mercedes vehicles while throwing Chrysler to the dogs) and the subsequent takeover by Cerberus, which was futile, ultimately sent Chrysler into bankruptcy.
This merger is really meant to make FCA a larger company building on the strengths of both to make them one bigger car company that can survive in the very competitive future in the car industry worldwide. Sergio believes that going forward, only 4 companies will be able to survive ultimately, and he wants FCA to be one of them.
