Hey Peeps, Ive been looking everywhere for a new rad for my 1971 Dodge Monaco, unless there is some underground black market Radiator shop , well i cant find anything.. what would be a resonable price to have mine recored if this is my only option? Im in Niagara Falls Canada, cheers. Im getting prices around the 400 - 500 dollar mark for a recore, getting the line of " the price of copper is throught the roof" let me know thanks peeps !

:cheers2:

BTW,what motor and with or without A/C?
On top of the radiator tank there is a number. Can you tell me what it is?
Typically around here 325.00 is the cost of recoring a 26 inch rad for a big block with A/C.
I can get you a good one that may be usable or be recored.
Nobody carries a NEW rad on the shelf for our barges.
There are aftermarket aluminum rads that you can "make it fit"

I have connections.I am in Kingston,BTW.
PM for further info if interested.
Hope this helps

There are new Griffin performance aftermarket radiators available at Advance Auto Parts for your Monaco. You'll need to know what your engine code is. A 440 is PN# 8-00038 and is 26.5"x18.63"x3" and is a 2 core radiator available for $279.99 USD. A 383 N code is also $279.99 USD and PN# 8-00038LS. There's another 383 L- code radiator available for $379 USD, and a 360, 318 listed. You may have to mod the radiator, call 800-722-3723 with any fitment questions before ordering a radiator. AAP always have online sales discounts of 10-30% off of advertised prices too. Normally free shipping - not sure about shipping to Canada.

ok cool ill check tomorrow , as long as its not raining, its a 383 no AC, ill get you guys the specs, asap, so excited. once i get this rad fixed then im off to get the engine rebuilt, and duals put on her !.. got a price for Dual stainless with mufflers for 690.00 plus tax installed. Im still new to this, I checked out TTI exhaust .. pretty pricey. was Curious, do you guys think I should go with headers or stick with stock and have the original manifolds sand blasted and cleaned up ? im trying to go with a more stock look since the car is in great condition and everything is original on her! :sign5:

Stick with the manifolds. If they are not the HP style manifolds I have a pair that would work for you.

$400.00 is about the going rate here in Jersey for a recored radiator.

I would stick with stock manifolds but go with the HP manifolds since they would add to your power gain.

Once you got the engine code look up the radiator at the website below and call 800-722-3723 to make sure you have the right radiator part number and any fitment issues BEFORE you order the radiator if that's the direction you choose to go. AAP currently has a 20% off online orders going on right now. Use code P20 for discount/promotional code to see if the radiator qualifies for a discount.

Good luck and let know how it turns out.

AAP.....I practically live there, I have one not 5mi from where I live. Their prices are pretty good, for some pieces. Also found most of the people behind the counter to be fairly knowledgeable. There's this one old timer I love talking with when I'm there:blahblah:

I have had a pretty good relationship with all the people at my local AAP. They really try to find parts for my NY'er, even if the part is available from their competitors.

On the top of the Rad I found these two sets of numbers, 38086, 3443952.

no letters just these two sets.

Yea, same here. My parts supply lines are AAP and/or Jegs.

The nice thing about Jegs is they price match. I find something I want at the Jegs website and then scour the internet for the same exact part (with same manufacturer) being sold for less. They always match it.

Maybe C-Barge can help you out with a re-core rad. Sounds like he's been successful going that direction. Good luck.

. Why do you ask that Stan? I didnt see anyone suggest that it was or did I miss something? I dont believe anything but I guess I'd have to compare two.

Because I saw two ebay feeds right here yesterday that listed radiators for 69 - 70.

Dustin 71 hasn't indicated which engine he has. There's 5 different engines with 5 different part numbers for radiators listed for his car at AAP through Griffin Radiators. Griffin can mod one for him so it will work or the other option is a recore.

If you want to stay factory original, you usually pay big bucks. If you don't mind adapting, many more options. I bought a new aluminum crossflow radiator for my 65 Newport (Pro-Cool, 18"W x 22"H, welded tanks) off ebay for $80. I just had to drill four 1/4" holes thru the front of my car to mount.

Radiator needed

Did you find a radiator? What size engine do you have? John.

Ya, I'm curious what the fix ended up being for you too. Hopefully not too expensive. I had a local radiator shop that did a great job recoring radiators. He has retired and sold the building. It's a muffler shop now.
