Just thought I'd share a piece of paraphernalia I found going through some old stuff of my father's. In 1971 he was trying to get his department (Lumberton, NJ)to purchase a better patrol car for their uses.
You can't find a photo itself online of NJSP's 1971 Fury III. Only models that show up however are '69, '70, '72, and '73.
I have found a news video on YouTube however of Rahway prison riot in 1971, and in the video if you have a sharp eye there is a Marked '71 NJSP unit parked next to a '70 marked unit (same body lines, no vent window, and distinct '71 rear bumper visible). It may even well be my car for all I know. NJSP didn't order many '71 models.
Check out the price back then. And they even had the HP 440 (370hp).
Enjoy.

Very odd they had Fury III's. Fury I was commonly the fleet vehicle of choice.
From what I gather, NJSP, WSP, and Texas Department of Public Safety used Fury IIIs. There may be more.
Many towns here in NJ also piggyback ordered IIIs for their municipalities. For example Cinnaminson NJ also used Fury IIIs for '70 and '71. Even the same color as the NJSP used.

@A38E86D32 Hi Marc; good to see you and thank you for the tag! They were wonderous times. 375 horse New Yorkers running the Garden State Parkway, 383 and 440 Fury IIIs running the John Fitch Way, standard trans Slant Six '69 Fury I 2 door sedans in the city and sitting on their new car line Capital had a Hemi, 4 speed Superbird! And sitting on their used car line were 2 '68 New Yorkers, 375 horse 440s, brocade cloth, power windows and 2 holes in the roof for the light rack for $1200! The PASP had '67/'68 Furys painted blue and gold called Sunoco Specials! and the '69/'70 cars had 383s. Then in 1970 I was with my wife and her family in Myrtle Beach and parked at one of the houses was a '70 Fury I 2 door sedan with 440 tags on the hood! Haulin' Moonshine Sir? Naw, not me officer!

Then one Friday in 1976, after her husband had died, Mrs. Capital Motors walked in and said they were done, it was the last day!

That was an abrupt ending, geeze!
A year or two back, while cleaning out my dad's storage facility, I finally found a picture of the old girl when she was wearing black. 1974.
