Just saw this vin over on the febo site. Thought I would throw it out here in case someone is actually looking for this. I know I wish I could find any of the original motors for the many cars I have. Hope it works for someone.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is a 69 C body right?

If there was one more digit, it could be the last part of a VIN of a 69 car (9) built at the Jefferson Ave plant (C), so it could be from a C body or a D body.

Ok, sorry Big John. I'm not following.

There is another digit that would identify it as a 69?

Jefferson plant is the C plant. Isn't the "9" the designation of 69?

Oh, geez, for some reason I saw 5 digits after the "C". My mistake, blame it on the migraine and lack of decent sleep.

But, they made D bodies there too. (Imperials)

Ok, so Imperials, C bodies and F bodies then?
Which C bodies did they produce at the Jefferson plant?
Are the F bodies the late 70's stuff?
What body is an imperial's designation?

Chalmers 1909-1916

Maxwell 1916-1925

Chrysler 1924-1978

Imperial1925-1958
1961-1975

DeSoto 1933-1936
1968-1960

Dodge 1959-1966

Dodge trucks 1980

K and E cars 1981-88

Omni/Horizon 1988-90

And body codes. You'll see that the Imperial in 1969 was a D body

Mopar Body Series Codes Guide - MyMopar.com

And, of course, in 1969, Imperial was an "Imperial", and not a Chrysler Imperial, being a separate car make.

Although, for some reason, that doesn't sound right as I believe the "C" body designation started in 1963, so the My Mopar guide may be flawed, but it shows the Imperial D body.

in 69....Chrysler’s and Imperials.
Aspens and Volares are F bodies.

one item of interest ....sometimes the tail of the G, indicating St. Louis plant, is missing in stampings and VINs leading people to interpret the character as a C instead of a G as it should be. Meaning, you could think an engine is out of a Chrysler 300 when it is actually out of GTX, Charger R/T or Coronet R/T. Always confirm other items when possible.

Sorry, but the website quoted has an error... D bodies were the full frame cars, which ended in 66. The 67-75 Imperials were C bodies...albeit, stretched C bodies from 67-73.

You mean that something on the internet is wrong?? OMG!! The horror!

I think I kinda knew that, but it just sounded right at the time. I focused on the early cars not being c bodies and glossed over it.

Oh well... Wrong twice in one thread. One more wrong will be a record for one thread for me.
