I remember stumbling onto some videos a year ago showing those things in action, and I was sure they were fake, there's no way something like that could make perfect welds, I would have bet money they were AI video's. Yes it seems to me they are soldering irons not mig welders.

If the ad is from Facebook it’s a gimmick and it’s really not what it says it is…

look up HalfassKustoms on youtube. the guy is a hack but he uses laser welders and rust removers a lot. fascinating to watch.

Some dude in Manitoba can afford a laser rust remover gun? Just how much do those things cost? Do they sell them at Princess Auto now?

And does he really have a laser welder? Never seen one.

Under the video is (surprise) a link to the machine. $5100USD $7300CDN.

A lot of those YouTube guys get stuff like that for free or get a kickback if you buy through their affiliate link.

Really though, just looking at US dollars, it's not that big a business expense. I don't know how it works in Canada, but if I bought that for a business in the USA, it would get written off as a business expense for income tax, so that takes a lot of the sting out of it. Then you look at how much time it saves or how much billable time you could generate you could generate doing rust removal.

In this case, he could be using it for shop use and then getting some revenue from YouTube too. He's had 2 1/2 million views on this. There was a website that gave estimates on money generated for YouTube channels (I don't have the link) and it was surprising how much they generate. I watched a guy talk about his car detailing channel and he was grossing $80k annually about 5 years ago just from that. Not too shabby for a part time gig where you aren't breaking a sweat. That was in addition to his detailing business and his online store.

My only issue would be if this machine was good enough for day to day commercial use.
