Chris, I don't know how you do it

Tennessee is nice but still suffers from some severe cold winters. Lots of car oriented stuff to do there.

Severe cold? You're from MI and you think Tennessee suffers from severe cold?

Yeah Matt...... Tennessee has a lot of elevation that really makes a difference in temps. Although the winter season isn't near as long as Michigan, it can get just as frigid.

Going south there is a "unmarked" boundry where things just start to feel different. Central Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi...... The air becomes much milder, Like Jimmy says..... The lower the latitude...... the better the attitude. Works for me... I'm staying.

TN is dryer in the winter though, yes? I don't mind the cold as long as it manages to be above 25 or 30 and my only beef with MI is the length of the winter and so far its not enough to make me want to leave. My roots are to deep here in many ways.

and it full of old people and Cubans............ no thanks, I'd rather stay in Jersey

Check your facts...

The spot I'm going to move to in the end won't have any neighborhood anyways, so demographics are of minor interest. :)

You want dry you have to go to the SW..... Tenn Humidity is probably worse then Michigan.... Same here in Bama. Moisture comes up from the Gulf.

My roots were deep in Mi too. I had a great place out in the country between Ann Arbor and Manchester, Lake front, 3 car garage and a 60 X 32 pole building, great job.... But the long winters and having to commute in the weather finally got to me..... Sold the place, quit my job and headed to North Carolina.

I rented a building in a Denver NC industrial park and started a small custom powder coating business. Things worked out very well and my business was well received by the car builders and race industry just up the road in Moorseville.

I sold that business after 3 1/2 years and went to work with the newly formed Dale Jarrett driving adventure, and finally ended up moving to Alabama when I got a job in track promotions at the Talladega Superspeedway. Retired in 08.... And have no regrets. I love it here but do miss being with my family in Michigan.

Sounds like a very rewarding career/life, the American dream!
