These were 14x6" and 14x7. I can see the 15s being more since they need a bigger box. It was ups ground residential.

UPS and door to door residential? Every wheel I've checked through FEDEX is 29 no matter where I've checked via FEDEX ground. Today is the first time I checked shipping two together and it was 29 EA vs 48 PR for two packed together. Today when I checked it I used my address to Wichita Falls, TX because I know that zip but I've shipped to VA and San Antonio and other places for 29 EA before also

Oh btw that's for 15 x 7, 32 lb wheels. Smaller / lighter wheels would be a little cheaper which may account for the $4 dollars per wheel for the pair I checked

What have you compared rates for that USPS was cheaper that was either heavy or didn't in a priority box Stan?
I've shipped heavy items like a ring & pinion set, a drill press, a flywheel, etc via USPS after comparing rates among the three.
That's my experience.

That was 9 plus years ago ..... The big three were what we looked at and The USPS was the cheapest at that time. Wheels and tires, I had to go to the local post office to get them.

For what it's worth I'd rather pay the postal service regardless of cost. Fed Ex and UPS throw things around like a rag doll without regard for YOUR personal property.

I think (only guessing here) how you box it is going to factor in to their rates also.
I've fiddled with the dimensions and have been able to lower the rates.
Also, I am also guessing shipping two pairs of wheels is cheaper than four individual ones. Just guessing here...
Yah. Lotsa guessing until you actually sit down and start crunching numbers on the screen

FedEx driver's are technically ununionized owner operators.
There's the problem.
< acts smug and whistles toself.. :D. )
