In the places we're living at least, snow is so marginal with many years without any at all the average would be in the one digit millimeters.

Speaking of costs for real estate, what would buy you about 500 k Dollars in your neighborhood, house plus acceptable storage building ?
You'd get tears in your eyes on what ruins they offer in my part of Germany for that Kind of money. Looking for two years now.

$500,000.00 here with buy you a hundred rural acres with a pond, and trees, a 4-5 BR. house, 2 pole barns and a full barn. It will be an hour to Walmart.
Or 10 minutes from Walmart, Home Depot and a new O'Reiley's without the pond.
It was over a million 8 years ago. We;re having a final clearance sale now ending soon.
