I'm working on the front end of my 1969 Fury with the intention of installing a disc brake conversion, bigger torsion bars, new upper ball joints and bushings, etc. Question for today- Any tricks for pressing out the lower control arm shaft and then the bushings or do I need to buy an arbor press?

I was looking at presses and for a small increase in price I can get a 20 ton shop press. Should I just get the bigger one? Not sure a 1 ton press will do the job.

I got a 12 ton press from Harbor Freight. Worked fine and I was able to remove the shaft and rubber inside the lower control arm. My replacement part is Moog K7007. How do I push out the metal?

Check out the info in post from hemi71x, that should get you going. I usually use a air hammer and special bit for cutting out the shell when doing all types of bushings.

Just like this one
S & G Tool Aid 91200 Bushing Splitter Bit
Works great on all types of bushings, but I don't remember if it will fit in the torsion bar hole.
