I have a 67 Fury convertible I revived and just got on the road. The seats are trashed, but not in the budget to have them recovered yet. So I bought a set of cheap Amazon seat covers.

They don’t look too bad for now. But it is a temporary solution.
The original seat covering is vinyl. And to be honest that all I’ve ever seen in every slab side Fury.

Was there a cloth option?
More importantly are cloth seats a good idea for a convertible?

I figure vinyl is probably better if they happen to get wet, easy to dry off.
But I’m thinking how hot they get sitting in the sun and you hop in the car wearing shorts. I’m having flashbacks of my childhood and my parents 71 Lemans with vinyl seats. Ouch!

I’m going to have my seats recovered over the winter. Originally I was thinking factory original vinyl or something similar. But now I’m thinking maybe cloth. Maybe some kind of tweed or material that wears well. I’m not concerned with originality.

Am I crazy? Thoughts?

I have a 65 convertible and am looking at the same options. I would really like cloth, but in a convertible? I just hate sitting on vinyl, or leather for that matter.

There was no cloth option for convertibles in this era. This was based on normal new car use. Your car is almost 60 years old and your toy, so you can do whatever you want IMHO. Legendary Interiors can do a stock kit but it's $$$$.
You are in California so I think you can search out a lot of cool options locally.
