Putting in new am/fm mp3 stereo. What are you guys/gals doing for speakers, particularly rear speakers and mounting locations? Kel Fury2.jpg

I will have to investigate later today.

I'm off site right now..

I know they sound great and are good at shaking the rust off the car LOL!!!

Wow...you cut the armrest panels? I retrofitted a 6x9 between the rear seats.

Same here, I installed dual channel 4x10 in dash and 6x9 in rear seat location, both mounted up in stock location. I do love the idea of putting them in the rear armrest just couldn't bring myself to cut them cause they are in such good shape.

The speakers were mounted there already when I purchasedthe car last year.. i would have a hard time cuttng the panels myself but since the sin has already been commited..

I did buy some tri speakers at Harbour freight last year for $5 each that will fit into the OEM speak cut outs since my stereo is only using the rears at the moment..

they were in the surplus section..

For the front, I made this from a MDF crate I found on the shipping dock. I had some cheap Polk Audio speakers that I used.

The rear got a dual coil Retro Sound 6 x 9" speaker in the stock location.

Then I mounted a Boss powered sub woofer under the rear seat.

The sound is decent for the cheap equipment I used. I figure that it's a convertible and the sound is always going to be compromised with the top down and my ears are pretty old and I can't tell the difference between good audio and cheap audio.

Just pick up a used set of rear armrests from someplace, cut out your location for the speakers and buy a section of matching vinyl from a place like SMS who has all the factory colors to match. You can actually use spray on adhesive(buy the good stuff from 3M) to hold the vinyl to the armrest.Use a heat gun or blow dryer to heat and stretch the vinyl and smooth out the wrinkles.Always start from the center and work your way outwards towards the edges.
