My son and I have been restoring a 63' Newport Convert. We are close to installing the top, and now the fun starts..... Purchased a kit, and opted for the top of the line material (I hate cheap tops). Even came with a installation guide, which is generic and vague at best. The old top was almost non existent, so we didn't have much to work with, as what went were and how. We have short tension cables, we have long tension cables, and no slot or channel for them. We don't believe the old top had them. (I know that the short ones don't, BTW) If anyone has some good info or pictures, it would be a great help. Thanks in advance

I have done a few of them and my first ones didn't turn out wrinkle free. I have never done one on a C-body and do not have any pictures. I learned on my own and got better but I'm no expert. If you have not done one before and want a top level job I suggest you call around to some interior shops or body shops and see if they do them. I'm not trying to discourage you from doing your own work, I'm a do it yourself guy myself, I'm just saying know your limitations or be willing to live with the results.
