Crankcase filter

looking at the 70/71 parts book
3462094 w/o ECS (1 tube)
3462095 w/ECS - 6cyl (2 tubes)
3462096 w/ECS - 8cyl (3 tubes)

ECS-Evaporation Control Systems
I have always equated that with being a California Car like CAP (Cleaner Air Package) on earlier cars

3462094 changes up to 53030254 there is some still on shelves but you repeated the part number for the 3 tube so which is which?

A lot to choose from on ebay...

Avoid the ones which have "Cuda Challenger Duster..." in the title, you'll be paying a premium for that "association", ha!

I will bet that the OP's breather he has is fine. Clean it and paint it, and leave the epay parts for the saps.

Ok that makes sense. The 3 tube is out of stock but there is one dealer showing "1" of them in the USA. I can provide the info so if someone wants it PM me

But a chrome grommet would dress it up nice!

I had the same issue removing my breather. It spun but wouldn't easily pull out. Some silicone spray and steady pulling pressure while rotating it got it out. No prying. Surprisingly, the rubber grommet was ok - not too hard. I was even able to remove and reinstall it with no issues, so I could paint the covers. Heating it up helped greatly.
Thanks for the advise one quick question not sure you can over some imput or not..The servo that is on the car was replaced by the previous owner in 2006 so that makes it 11 years or older (rebuilt) so it's probley done the reason I am saying this is because a few days before I placed the New Yorker in storage the a/c system. .heater blower just quit out of the blue..I checked all the fuses seems fine but the auto temp 2 just stopped I will do some futher checks once I take her out of storage but from what I read those sevos only last a few years even from factory..any thoughts

To get more play regarding your question, you might want to discuss Auto Temp II issues in another thread, or go back to the ones already posted at length on this subject. But to answer your question, usually when ATCII stops altogether, is is usually due to a failed check valve in the vacuum lines that run just under the evaporator core inside the car (at the top of the front passenger compartment carpet - i.e. where it ends farthest forward). They are circular white valves with nipples on them. The internal part of the check valves will just seem to fail one day, shutting down the system.

Even if you do use the ECS breather required to meet the California regulations back in the day, I still would not use the third nipple for its intended use on our old cars. It was there to take any evaporative fuel vapors escaping from the fuel tank and send them ultimately to the crankcase, thereby diluting the oil and in some rare cases also causing the oil pan to blow off during startups. A cheap, dumb idea by Chrysler to avoid the expense of using a charcoal vapor cannister. I will probably leave the 3rd nipple looking like it is hooked up just because I tend to be a purist, but it would not be functional, having accomplished that where you can't tell when looking under the hood.
