Cut and Buff 50/50 - Amazing!

I brought home the ONE skirt that came with my New Yorker (I now have like three sets.) Wanted to see how nicely it would buff out! Here are the results.

42 years of sitting idle! That paint shines thru nicely. Seeing how beautiful it buffs out it really makes me reconsider my desire to change it… But again, the entire car is going to get wet sanded, buffed, polished and clear coated to clean preserve the original paint until I can afford a nice paint job. Seeing how pretty it’ll look in its shiny paint might be enough to persuade me!!!

Used a medium cutting pad and some heavy metal polish on the stainless… wow! So beautiful. These headlight rings came back around too!!

No, It’s not show car quality - but knowing this car’s background makes it way cooler to me. Knowing that this car was rotting away in an open desert, infested by critters of all kinds… Then to see it now, all shined up and mechanically restored with a new interior! She’ll be a looker….

Sometimes, that old acrylic enamel Chrylser used back then can be brought back with some buffing and such. Some colors were better than others, too.

Your enthusiasm inspires me Isiaih, I get a lot of satisfaction restoring these Mopar's or anything else that I restore be it an EM pinball machine or rotary grass mower that needs no gas, or an old console stereo phonograph, it's great to see you on this forum. I'm watching you and like your progress with this classic, keep pics coming,

You are doubg a great job.
Just be careful along the edges as the paint is thinner there and one can burn through it easily.
She will hold up til you can afford a paint job!

Thank you much! It means a whole lot to hear. Seeing this car come back from its former grave and starting to look nice again is the best satisfaction I could ever have. Nice to see you mention that you restore Console phonographs! I’m a record collector. Very big on rare Doo Wop, Sweet Soul and Chicano R&B from the 50s-70s. I archive my 45’s by taking scans of the labels and posting them along with the audio on YouTube! I run my own channel, here is the link if you’re ever so inclined to check it out:)

Thanks Lee! I was also impressed. I should have wet sanded it first for an even better result, but I was impatient and just wanted to see how nicely it would turn out… I’ve been doing lots of practice with the rotary and trying my best to avoid those edges! So far so good. I have a Dual Action polisher to that I will use to fine tune edges I wasn’t able to get too close to. Real hard to burn thru paint with a DA as opposed to a rotary which only spins on one axis.

I’m very eager to see the entire car buffed out pretty! Especially with a nice coat of clear to really bring out that red paint.

They nailed the look with this Newport here. Exactly what I’m going for!

That old school lead based paint outlasts everything ever made since. Nice to see someone give love and attention to old tin, make em shine like a new penny. And stainless can shine like chrome with a little rubbing too. Nice job Isaiah, she looks damn fine.
