Where can you get a dana 60 for a cbody? Do you have to modify anything just wanted to know if anyone has done the swap and where i can locate one
Oh i was only asking. Had a buddy swap one into a 68 cougar and he was saying I should see if one would fit for me I currently have a 8 3/4 rearend with a brace welded on for reinforcement it came like that when I bought it i did upgrade the driveline because the one under was super skinny to a heavy duty one I’ve had no issues just wanted to know if anyone has triedI'll bite... Why on earth do you want to put a Dana 60 in your C body?
That rear is overkill for most cars it was ever originally bolted in. It's a truck rear end that's way too heavy and way too expensive.
If you are planning on making enough power to break the 8 3/4 (I'm assuming) that is already in your car, there's other options. A Ford 9" comes to mind as a better choice, but seriously, why?

a race D60 weighs 15# more than a 9 or 8.75-------a cut down regular truck D60 weights 165# total.....Where can you get a dana 60 for a cbody? Do you have to modify anything just wanted to know if anyone has done the swap and where i can locate one
Yes it happened at least twice! A friend found a truck rear with then snubber mount, had it made into a car axle.i found a dana 60 under a 72 truck that had the pinion snubber mount on the center section----this caused lots of controversy amonst the muscle car guys.....
the ebay stock dana 60 snubber cost as much as the junkyard axle which was about 80-100$ at that time...i didnt want an aftermarket snubber on an otherwise stock looking axle---i used ebody 8 3/4 axles on it......and to 413----everytime i am at a junk yard i look under every old dodge truck-----kind of like that old guy that found a dime in the gutter........Yes it happened at least twice! Yep, my friend does the same thing, and has never seen another one. LOL. I Highly doubt the 9.25 is anywhere near as strong and a Dana 60. Take them apart and compare, or just lift one up.-everytime i am at a junk yard i look under every old dodge truck-----kind of like that old guy that found a dime in the gutter........
