Thanks for all the encouragement, I will need it. Not sure where the other guy was going, he just said he started on this, then got another car, and then bought a house, maybe just to many irons in the fire. Polara R/T, did they actually make that option, or were you guys just imagining a new sportier version?

A few facts about the Polara I didn't know...
The Dodge Polara was an automobile introduced in the United States for the 1960 model year as Dodge's top-of-the-line full-size car; after the introduction of the Dodge Custom 880 in 1962, the Polara nameplate designated a step below the full sized best trimmed Dodge model; the Polara that year had been downsized to what as in effect intermediate status. In its various forms, the Polara name was used by Dodge until 1973, when its position in Dodge's line-up was replaced by the Dodge Monaco. The name Polara is a reference to the Polaris star, in a marketing attempt to appeal to the excitement surrounding the Space Race during the early 1960s. The Polara was a competitor to the Ford Galaxie 500 and the Chevrolet Impala.

Dave, the 3 speed manual was available in Polara's. Do you know if any of the 842 1971 verts were 3 speed manuals?

one of the guys on the polara - monaco yahoo group put out some numbers that says of the ~695 made for the US, only 1 was a 3 spd. the rest of the 842 (147) were made for canada or export.
Do you know if any of the Canadian Polara's had manual txsm's? I wonder if the U.S. manual txsm Polara is still alive? Dave......do you know?

Unless someone has a better suggestion, Krylon Dull Aluminum #1403 will refinish the grille and taillight panel nicely.

I think Mark is incorrect, the one 3 speed on the column is a Canadian built car, the breakdown for the American market was unavailable.
The fellow that has these numbers is on this board, his name is Kevin. When you hear that numbers arent available because all the records were destroyed...... Thats b.s .... they are available on the face of reports, you gotta find them. Kevin, has them.

Ok, guys, I have been plugging away, and I have a list of parts I am looking for if anyone could help, that would be great. The parts I am looking for are the fender mounted turn signals, the plastic grill cowl covering under the windshield wipers, a battery hold down, a nice set of driver quality bumpers, and the D O D G E letters that go on the taillight filler panel, and a clean trunk pan. If anyone has these, or knows where I can get them, please let me know. Thanks, Eric

My Polara R/T post was meant as a derisive remark at the butchery that was done to that car trying to turn it into something it never was meant to be. Chrysler north America never made a Polara R/T
