Can anyone decode the build date on my 1965 Imperial ?

No. But the scheduled date is 504 or May the 4th (Star Wars day) on the left bottom row. The scheduled date is an administrative marker and, typically, unrelated to actual production. Your car could have been built weeks before or months after that date.

One way to help determine assembly date is look for original date coded components.

Where are the build sheets "typically" located on this car? A cell phone camera directed under the front seat may locate a build sheet and some additional information.

This is one beautiful car - very envious. I have had a few large black cars, so not so maybe not as envious on the upkeep ; )

I pulled the front assembly out since the foam has deteriorated and found no build sheets.Nothing under the rear seat either.What I did find is that the carpets are totally original, high pile and like new.

Thank you for posting and the query. My little decoder is under development and testing and did pretty good until it got to the 6 under the X. I see on other Imperial data plates-6's, 7's & 8's under the X. 7's & '8's define two or four seat belts in other '65 MoPars, but I am stumped by the X6. Anything unusual about the seat belts in your car? Perhaps actually deleted? One of the Imperial option codes ending in 6 is heater delete but I can't imagine this is it. You and others are encouraged to chime in.

Mine has its seatbelts and definitely a heater since I’m in the process of replacing the heater core.

Like Lt. Columbo--I've got just one (or more questions): How many pairs of seat belts does your car have? 2?, 4? 6? Do the belts appear to be original MoPar? They could be factory or dealer installed as they were not standard. MoPar belts would be (probably) black webbing, chrome buckles & little white cloth tags with regulatory and MoPar part number info on them. Outboard front seat belts might be retractable into plastic holsters. There might even be six belts. Is it possible this car has a remote deck lid release switch or knob to pull? I have seen one other X6--on a '65 Chrysler 300L convertible. A mystery. Errors do occur. X8 would indicate four belts from the factory. Front two belts were standard on '65 Imperials.

There are only seat belts for the front which are factory since they go through a chrome slot in the seat .. It has the remote truck lid and electronic high beam unit.
