In Ohio if you have historic plates for your car you can register any vintage plates from the model year of your car. How many of your states allow you to do the same? Here are my newly found plates.

North Dakota allows you to display clean tags from year of manufacture as long as the number is 5 digits or longer and has been verified as not already in use. You have to carry the "pioneer" tags with you too.

In Alberta you must provide both plates of the set to the registry office, have the number checked to see if it is in use on another series and then you must carry the issued antique plate in the car with you. I bought two sets of never registered plates still in the plastic sleeve for my 65 and 69 at a swap meet for $30 a set. By the way, we pay a one time $35 fee to register an antique vehicle with no renewal fees.

Alabama allows "year of manufacture" tags to be regersted to cars over 20 years old. A one time fee applies.

Florida does also but the cut off date is 1974 when they switched over to decals.

I thought the same thing too in Maryland. But after reading the fine print............Maryland allows the vintage decal plate as long as the year of the decal matches the year of the classic car.
