I’ve been trying to locate a replacement for these plastic guides. 1971 polara 4 door. Most of them are damaged and ordered some e body ones to see if they would work but they’re too big. Anybody have a suggestion or am I stuck with floppy windows? Here are some pics with what is factory original. The e body ones are a good 1/4 inch larger on all sides.

I don't have the answer to your question, but if it is a 1971 Polara, then @71Polara383 and @polara71 may know something I don't.

Regardless, pray tell us more about the car!

Not aware of a body line crossover part without a parts book. Finding original guides shouldn't be too difficult with all the parts cars available.
I always sourced mine from donor cars.

Thanks for the replies guys. It’s a 383 equipped car. Still has original drivetrain which seems to have never been out of the car. I’ll be yanking the motor here soon and off to the machine shop. Gonna give it a police clone treatment. Have an original police cluster ready to go in it and the unity light. Need to replace the drivers rear quarter. I was able to grab a factory replacement for it off eBay. Seller bought out a body shop in North Dakota to auction off tools etc.. and found the thing in the back of the shop! Talk about unobtanium for a factory part surviving 50+ years!

I’m gonna do the motor similar to my 75 royal monaco stroker build. That one was a 400” to 512” 440 source kit. Tf 240 heads, smaller roller 230-236 duration stick. Rpm air gap. Venom vX 850 prosystems carb. Tad under 11 to 1 compression. Pump gas 91 out here in Denver. Made 602hp and 707tq. With 4.10’s it was a consistent 13.0 car with a couple trips into the 12.9’s with cool air at the old bandimere at 4600#s with me in it!
This one I’ll do e85 with a bit more compression and a little bigger cam. 496” kit. I’m guessing this car is probably 300+ pounds lighter than the monaco. One of my race buddies was a solid mopar hoarder and had a 9.25 housing from a 73 fury squad so I’ll swap that in place of the 8 3/4 to be safe. The Monaco’s 9.25 has held up fine with a true trac unit in it.
Here’s the car and the Monaco

@75Royal -- thank you for the photos. Do you have photos of the fender tag, the engine bay, and the interior by any chance? We are big 1971 Polara fans here.

Here you go. Interior is out right now for drivers floor pan repair and restoration. Was a saddle tan car. Just got the seats back and door panels from the upholster. The interior was roached out from the Colorado sun. Gonna have a big project restoring the dash, it will be doable but a lot of work.

So why does a EW1, L code DE Polara have a F13 code (alternator) and a M as the first digit in the VON, yet Y14 coded?
Ok, where's the build sheet?

I've gotta interject here. If you are going through the trouble of cloning it, why not do the door cards and seat materials correct?

The dash is an easy fix from ABC moparts in Arizona.

I’m just making it a fun car that will look like a cop car. If it was a true K code polara I’d be putting it back to correct. This clearly isn’t and I’m more of a get them on the road again and have fun with them on the strip and street. That is the fun part with c bodies they’re cheap when you find them and you don’t have to worry about “is this correct”. Or at least I’m not that guy. It won’t be a perfect replica when it’s done but it will be fast and fun and have a nice comfy interior. To each his own with that. The build sheet is MIA or turned into the mouse nest that was found behind the rear seat with the other foam and upholstery pieces. It’s just a base 383 4 door sedan that’s getting a second life. I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to get this one in the 12’s up here in Denver if we ever get a new track. My Monaco is an absolute blast to drive and quite the sleeper. This will be the same but with the added cop car look.

Just out of curiosity what does the M code mean on this thing? I’m not as well versed on the codes beyond what my factory service manual has in it. Also thanks for the tip on the dash! This site is a great help to get these things back on the road.

Those guys are something else! God bless them. I can barely keep up with passwords and user names these days. Nice looking ride you have there

Im out of cars. The 69 wagon i have is a rental ( for lack of a better word) . I need another 71 two door and a 70 convertible.

Thanks though.

Thank you for posting the tag of DE41L1D132355 -- interesting color combination with white exterior paint and top, F1T7 cloth bench seats, but F13 60-amps alternator as the only option beside the basic R11 radio.

As per @hergfest in this post: "The M on the VON plus the early build date tells you this was a show car. Could have been a press release photo car, or a dealer reveal car. Something like that."

This car was discussed here when it went up for sale in 2022, and here when it went up for sale in 2021.

Interesting. The guy who sold it to me was an interesting fella. He lived up in the mountains and the county told him due to neighbor complaints he had to get some cars off his property especially the mechanically challenged ones. He was flipping cars from Copart. He grabbed it from them, then tried selling thru them and Facebook when he had to get rid of it. Copart didn’t get him anywhere and he couldn’t bring it back to his property so I saved him a trip and got it cheap. It was gonna be crusher bound if I didn’t grab it. Thanks for posting that.
